new Meitner MA3 hit the rack today
How does the attached files sound thru the MA3?  I could get rid of a box with my Bricasti M3 and Melco Na combo.  I spent a week with the MA3 but ended up buying the Bricasti M3. I felt it sounded better and more natural. Make sure you get a l...
Amp match for Chartwell LS6?
The Exposure 3510 should be a perfect match with the LS6. I used Exposure 5010 amps when with my LS6 (before I sold them) and the combination was an excellent one.
Break in time necessary and if so how long for Dynaudio Heritage Special ?
My Heritage Specials took months to break in. I have had them for about 9 months now, and I'm sure they are still improving.
SPL: Reference level performance, German build quality, and innovative designs
Just adding my thoughts to this thread, having bought an SPL Director Mk 2 preamp and S800 power amp earlier in the year, and more recently a Phonitor headphone amp and Phonos phono stage. My main amplifiers were an EAR 868 preamp and Pass XA25 p...
Which device makes for a better digital music source? Computer or streamer?
I have tried a number of PCs, both custom built using standard components and "audiophile" PCs like the Antipodes. I have tried low powered PCs and high powered PCs. I have used linear PSUs and standard switch mode PSUs (but good quality, such as ...
Pass Labs XA25 paired with Marten Oscar Duo
I use an XA25 with Dynaudio Heritage Special, which are 4 ohms and 85db. It drives them to very satisfactory levels and I have never felt a lack of power. I have tried the Dynaudios with my 200 watt Exposure 5010 monoblocks and did not feel that ...
Pass Labs XA30.8 for Dynaudio C1 Platinum
I use a Pass XA25 with my Dynaudio Heritage Specials, which are an 85db, 4 ohm load. The 25 watt Pass drives them very capably.
Why do folks spend more on electronics than on speakers?
So you have some really cheap speakers? They must sound great though. The speakers are certainly not cheap. It is just that my Nagra Tube Dac and Nagra Classic PSU are obscenely expensive.
Why do folks spend more on electronics than on speakers?
I have spent vastly more on electronics than speakers. My DAC alone is about 10 times the value of my speakers. Partly this is because I have a small room and listen in nearfield, and so I only need smaller speakers, which are inevitably less exp...
From Benz to?
Personally, I preferred an XV-1S to the LPS. I found the LPS very coloured with a very distinctive voicing. The XV-1S is still on the warmer side of neutral but is faster and more dynamic, and less coloured. It also matches well with an SUT. But ...
The reviews are true about the EAR Phono Classic
I've played around with a Friend's Phonobox and it is a very good phono stage at the price.   But it's not so much that the MM input is better than the MC input, but the internal transformers are not particularly good. Using a good external SUT ...
Bricasti M5 Users
I have compared USB, AES and SPDIF with my Bricasti and Nagra DAC. I agree with Brian Zolner's ranking: AES>SPDIF>>USB.
Digital Audio Output Differences? Is USB Audio Really The Top-notch?
It really does depend on the implementation, but I have never had good results with USB. I have tried USB directly from my PC, from an audiophile server (an Antipodes), and from a number of streamers - Lumin U1 mini, SOTM, Ultrarendu and OpticalRe...
SUT Interconnects
I use a very short 0.4m Van Damme XKE cable terminated with ETI connectors, made by Aurealis Audio, between my EAR MC4 SUT and Nagra VPS phono stage: www.aurealisaudio.com.au/phono-cables/ This is very low capacitance at less than 50pf per metre,...
Review of Quadratic MC-1 SUT With Comparisons to Other SUTs
Thanks, that was a very interesting and well-written comparison. I have an EAR MC4, and have been thinking of adding another SUT to the collection, but your comments suggest that there is not much to be gained. I did own the Hashimoto HM-7 brief...
