Does anyone have experience with seller Kron on cartridges? I have now bought four cartridges and an SUT from Vincent (Kron) and every transaction has been perfect. Aside from excellent prices, Vincent ships very quickly and responds quickly and courteously to all emails. I have paid by direct bank transfe...
Remember the Ringmat? You should! When I bought my first Linn LP12 about 25 years ago, the guy selling it demoed the turntable with a Ringmat. It sounded awful - thin, lightweight, no midrange. I was disappointed and asked him to put the stock felt mat back on and suddenly the LP1...
PS Direct Stream Vs. Lumin X 1 Sound quality difference? I have tried it as well. But I prefer native resolution, which for most of my collection is redbook PCM. I find conversion to DSD and upsampling generally to sound a little artifical and "processed". But then I also thought the same thing about th...
Analog Upgrade - Phono Preamp or Cartridge? Your turntable and phono stage seem capable. I think your cartridge is the weak link. Try a Benz Ace or Glider, or a Dynavector 20x2L. These should be a significant upgrade within your budget and work well with your turntable and phono stage.
Alphason HR 100 MCS - Re-wire or not? Thanks for the suggestions. The MCS cabling was regarded as an upgrade when the arm was released, but it does get some mixed reports, and I do generally prefer copper cables. But I am also reluctant to tinker with a classic arm, particularly as it...
Alphason HR 100 MCS - Re-wire or not? Thanks, it does look like the arm works best with higher compliance cartridges, and my Benz seems like it is within but at the lower end of that range, while the DV is definitely too low. After further listening I also think I will have the arm re...
Mat for Rega P10 The Les Davis mat is quite cheap and having been through many, many mats over the years it is the only one which is an actual improvement. I use it on my P8 as well as on my Kuzma Stabi Reference.
Lumin T2 burn in time? My Lumin X1 sounded absolutely dire straight out of the box. I was going to send it back. For the first couple of weeks it sounded like crap and I thought I had made a huge mistake. My dealer persuaded me to stick with it, and it took over a month ...
LFD NCSE MK3 I have just replaced my Ayre AX5 Twenty with an LFD NCSE III. I thought the Ayre would be my last amplifier, and it really is a superb piece of engineering and a fabulous sounding amplifier. But the plain looking LFD at half the price sounds more ...
Lumin T2 dac gone bad? distortion "spitting" "splatty" in mids/highs I assume you have tried just re-starting it. I have had this issue with my Lumin X1 a few times and that usually seems to fix it.Also, check whether you are doing any digital processing either in your music software (Roon, JRMC etc ) or in the Lum...
Harbeth vs Graham audio @rossb when you keep the ls6, does it mean you prefer it better than all the others that you’ve owned, including the harbeth 30.2? I heard it is much more neutral than the overly rich and even nasal 30.1.And your preference of ls6 over ls5/9 is be...
Cartridges: Kuzma CAR or Lyra on a 4-Point (11") arm All three cartridges are resolving, and (from memory) I doubt any of them were obscuring detail. But then I am less interested in tiny details than in dynamics and tonality. The Phasemation errs on the warmer and more forgiving side but gives up s...
Cartridges: Kuzma CAR or Lyra on a 4-Point (11") arm I found the Lyra nice but a bit too lean slightly soft. Other Lyras such as the Delos or Kleos are more dynamic but even leaner. The CAR 40 was good but a little dull. The Dynavector is full sounding, very dynamic, tonally rich - for my tastes I ca...
Cartridges: Kuzma CAR or Lyra on a 4-Point (11") arm I've had the CAR 40 and Lyra Etna on my 4 Point. I sold both and now have a DV XV-1S which I prefer to either.
Harbeth vs Graham audio I have owned the Harbeth P3ESR, M30.1 and M30.2, and the Graham LS3/5, LS5/9 and LS6.The only ones I still have are the Graham LS3/5 and LS6. The LS6 are my primary speakers. All of these are good speakers, but I felt that the Grahams are a bit mo... |
