Classic Ortofon Cartridges: The MC2000 MK II or the MC3000 MK II?
How would the Ortofon Jubilee compare with these older cartridges? The Jubilee was at the top of Ortofon's range in its time.I have just bought a "new" Jubilee from Ortofon's Treasure Trove and have been very impressed with it. I like it better th...

Did you have the Kuzma 4 point 9? If so, was it on the LP12? I had both the 4 Point 9 and the 11 inch 4 Point. I preferred the standard 11 inch. Neither were on the LP12, but a Kuzma Stabi Reference. The Ekos SE was on the LP12. The PU7 was also...

There is a new Naim Aro on the market, this with their new table combo. I am hoping that Naim will consider selling the Aro separately. Otherwise, it is the old war horse---Ekos SE/1 Why not try an Audio Origami PU7? It is half the cost of a n...
Naim introduce a turntable - the Solstice Special Edition
The ARO was certainly an ergonomic challenge. But my real objection was that it sounded awful - thin, lightweight, no bass. Typical of the worst aspects of unipivots. I much preferred the Ekos I that preceded it and the Ekos II that replaced it.
Naim introduce a turntable - the Solstice Special Edition
Funnily enough, the ARO remains the worst tonearm I have owned. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it!Using Clearaudio to build a high mass turrntable in the German style (Brinkmann, AMG etc) is a surprising choice for Naim. They have always been assoc...
Kuzma 4Points and Lyra carts
I have owned both the 4Point9 and the 11 inch 4 Point. I found the latter much better. The 4Point9 sounded quite lightweight to me - very much like most of the unipivots I have owned (although I know it is not strictly a unipivot). The 11 inch 4Po...
Which Phono Pre?
Raul, have you actually heard the Whest 40RDT?
Turntable mat journey
Glad to hear the double sided tape has resolved the issue. If you like the Rega sound, the stock mat really is the best sounding solution IMO, and I have a cupboard full of mats to prove it.
Turntable mat journey
I've owned a bunch of Rega turntables over the years and currently have a P8 as a second turntable. If you're not concerned about sound quality, there are plenty of options. But if you want to preserve the sound of the stock P8 - which is understa...
What tomearm ?
If the OP cannot reassemble the arm or re-solder the wires I don't really  see how he is going to drill new holes in his plinth to install a Rega arm.  And that's assuming he wanted to in the first place. The Rega is not a drop in replacement, and...
What tomearm ?
I don't think a Rega arm will work on that turntable without surgery. Different mount and different pivot-to-spindle distance and effective length. If there is a problem with your current arm, then just get a replacement Project arm. If you want a...
Bricasti M3 vs DCS Bartok
I agree with ianb52. I borrowed a Bartok for a home dem for a week, but knew within a few minutes that I couldn’t live with it. The sound was very detailed and in some ways quite realistic, but just lacked dynamics, colour and musicality. I found ...

What does Roon give me beyond just Tidal HiFi?
Roon offers much more than just Tidal. It offers a forum full of advice from snarky, defensive, rude and often hostile Roon fanboys. It offers the ability to search your music collection for things you know are there but which Roon can't find.It off...
vinyl versus digital redux
I have made quite a lot of digital recordings of LPs, but mainly for comparison purposes, when trying to compare, say, tonearms or cartridges. I can play the samples over and over without damage to the record or stylus, and it gives me a good basi...
