Tubes from Russia block
I doubt if the guys at the Svetlana plant, that was in St Petersburg, ever started any wars. I sure did like their SED "WINGED C" 6550C's. Well, before I got my NOS, 1970's GE 6550A octet anyway(might been the last time though).

Those upgraded outlets also are engineered to grip your plugs, much more securely(improved conduction). Important benefit! If the audiophile grades are out of your price range, at least spring for some good, 20 Amp(nema 5-20R), Hospital or Industr...

Don't let the electrician use less than 10AWG Romex. A separate run and breaker, for each outlet. Especially if the run is better than 50'. Whatever anyone thinks or says, the difference in your system's potential dynamics will be worth it. Twisti...

Nude Turntable Project
Just thought I'd mention Dupont Corian, as an excellent, easy to work, non-resonant, very dense material, that can be built up into whatever thickness desired: (http://casf.com.au/?src=globalnav) I've personally used it in a variety of resonance d...

6.5 years on, I'll bet the OP has spent his $20K already(just a guess).
Tubes and their problems
If your system is bringing in al-jazeera: look for tube with a beard and towel-wrapped head. Eliminate it, with extreme prejudice, before it blows up your house!
