HELP with Speakers for a 11 ft X 12 ft room???
I haven't but will be soon. I bought some Vonschweikert vr 4jr's and have a 10 by 10 room. I called Kevin at the VS headquarters and he said for small room to get a good sized sound stage that diagonal is best because the corner behind the speaker...
Still pondering Paradigms
please stop pondering or this thread will never end ;)
Any info on power conditioners seen in industial
But does it help the sound any?
weird soundstage with pianos
It's definately the recordings and not your set up. I hear the same thing. On some recordings drums span the whole sound stage. So if your speakers are 8 feet apart you'll be listening to an 8-10 foot drum set. With piano's the same, you'll hear a...
My first real hi-end audio system Please advise
I'd avoid the whole movie thing. Way too expensive to do right. Hard to place in a small room and more "techy" than anything. If your a music guy focus on 2 channel - otherwise you'll spend the next 10 years talking about upgrades and watching not...
Von Schweikert VR-4,Jr.
Can't comment on the show but I bought these. And they are unbeleivable for there size and price point. Elybry, Just like the manual says, don't make any critical judgements until they have 200 hours on them. These speakers need full break in. Unt...
Is the significance of room acoustics overrated?
Speaker placement will usually make the biggest difference, then room acoustics. But why does it matter they are both necessary as far as I'm conserned. And "thick wall to wall carpet" ?? Are you talking about a poor mans recording studio?
Worlds’ Best High End Loudspeaker Competition/Demo
who cares if you can't afford them? ;)
SACD my thoughts at this time.....................
Well said Ben, here is my view from another thread that I've answered. "If I want the best sound, I'll put on an LP. It trumps dvda sacd or whatever four letters you want to come up with. For the titles not available on vinyl I have a wonderful CD...
more punch/presence from Meadowlark Shearwaters
I've also heard the meadowlark shearwater. I did like the sound and was very close to purchasing. I ended up with Von Schweikert speakers because after hearing them side by side, the sound was thin and hollow. However there are people that swear b...
Room treatments
I have a 10' by 10' room and the fact that it is square presents a huge problem. So for full range speakers bass traps are a must. Another solution (which in most cases including mine is unreasonable) is to position the speakers kitty corner so th...
The listening constraints have been lifted
Yep - finding time is the biggie for me. I read about reviewers listening to several CD's at a sitting with envy. I usually will only be able to get one record or cd in at a time, sometimes only half. If I'm lucky I can turn it up, but often time ...
Cary CD-308t vs. Audio Research CD3 players
I'll say 308T. I've had mine for about 5 months now and haven't missed a thing from my CDs - if I want a different sound I will change the tubes. Best Regards, Rob
Upgrades to Cary 308t CD player
I use the mullards. I like that sound the best. I haven't heard that many different tubes, but the stock tubes have got to go. I kept mine in there for 4-5 months and now I can't believe I've waited this long to tube roll. Mullards have sounded th...
