should everyone just order emm?
After reading this thread, all I get is "here comes the banwagon jump on" I remember everyone jumping on the Sony SACD player banwagon and now a couple of years later they'll all be sad that they didn't wait for the EMM labs DAC. And a couple of y...
Turntable or go into SACD, Simon Yorke vs EMM Lab
Well put Raul, If Meitner products are as good as mentioned then why are we having a format war, and why are people still purchasing TTs. If the Meitner can make CD sound better (or extremely close) to any other format available, then all the prob...
Von Schweikert VR-4,Jr.
Rodney. You answered your own question. Yes mids will become more fluid, bass less bloated more extended. highs less bright. You will start noticing better sound mostly at about 100 hours on. But to reach their prime a minimum of 200 hours but pro...

CD "SMOKED" your $30k vinyl rig? CD sounds better than vinyl? Are you sure you weren't the one smoking? I think you're a little late on this post. dgad already made his decision.
Dynavector Cartridge Load 100ohms or 47k ohms?
Yes. That was the original problem for me was that I tried 47ohms because of the openess and then realized my bass was gone and it was topend loaded, "bright" - so I figured I'd go by the manufacturer's suggestion... Well they really don't suggest...
Von Schweikert VR2 vs VR3
I'd go with the VR 2 if you can't stretch to the vr 4. Its a terrific speaker and works for all types of music. It sounds fine loud depending on the amp. Read some online reviews on it. They have been pretty accurate. I've auditioned with all kind...
Best table in $1500 range
I'd go with the Scout. I did and wouldn't trade it in for any other in the price range. Rob

Abruse. You should shop at a new place. Obviously an idiot works there and Lead shot and break in make a huge difference. Are you sure you weren't at curcuit city? Just like it says in the manual "if it doesn't give you goosebumps, the set up is l...
Totem Winds are Too Bright
My guess is its the room as well. Don't bame the speakers just yet. You probably have flutter echo. Do you have bare walls facing each other? If so hang a blanket on 1 wall and see if it helps. Rob
would you bother?
An LP collection is not a problem. Cheapest software available -- TT and Phono stage, cartridge, Record Cleaning Machine, learning how to set everything up -- so it's not easy but -- would I? Absolutely!!
is this the best guitar ever
I'm an Al fan, but I absolutely agree with you. He is talented, but I've never heard him play with emotion. And his compositions -- although maybe complex has no relation for to the listener. Proof that virtuosity is not a substitute for music. An...
Question for all of you Glenn Gould fans ...
Pragmatist. I have a GG recording of Mozart piano sonatas (LP). I don't know who recorded it since I'm at work now. Picked it up for a couple bucks (shows a painting of mozart at the keyboard on the cover). I hear him humming clearly, but only at ...
Back into vinyl - part 1
You don't even wanna hear the money I've spent and bad decisions while going through my audio growing pains. Very good story - keep going.
Dynavector Cartridge Load 100ohms or 47k ohms?
Thanks for all the responses. dougdeacon, I spent last night experimenting and your post was right on. As I moved from 100 to 300 to 1.1k to 47k the detail seemed to improve and open up. But after listening for awhile, I realised the bass was miss...
Turntable or go into SACD, Simon Yorke vs EMM Lab
Just to add that if you are into classical -- you can go to goodwill and pick up an enormous amount of LPs $1 or $2 each. As with all formats some are recorded incredibly well (Decca especially) and some are not even worth listening to. But at a b...
