CD...then the SACD...all over again Schipo, I'm sorry to hear about your afair of the heart. I wouldn't make that trade. I'm at the tail end of dealing with that. The only solution - Who said being an audiophile was money efficient. Be patience or pay more money. LOL
Wadia direct into amp, Sound a bit too lean?? I've noticed that although a preamp adds to another link in the chain. Running directly from source to amp (even though some sources have an attenuator) the sound is not as airy and the soundstage seems compressed. Rob
Dynavector Karat 17D2 MKII vs. Lyra Dorian I have the Dyna 17d2 with the VPI and it has good synergy. It leaves me not wanting to upgrade. The transient response on the cartridge if terrific. I haven't heard the Lyras enough to have an opinion. Rob
How would you desribe Von Schweiket VR-4jr sound? Opalchip: Thank you for not posting again. You are an ignorant - bombastic fool. You contradict yourself and insult everyone on Audiogon by saying that "audiophiles" put equipment above music as a priority. What else is the equipment for but to li...
headphone help Newmanoc gives really good advise. There are a lot of options, but the Senns are very good headphones. I prefer the Grado RS-1 with RA-1 headphone amp; however, I own both. I use the Senns on classical music and grado on rock and jazz. Rob
How would you desribe Von Schweiket VR-4jr sound? It's not that I don't like Opalchip's reasoning. It's just that it is fundamentaly wrong. His logic is confused also. And it would help if he actually listened to the speakers that he has an opinion on. Everything he mentioned was from previous po...
What is the future of redbook players? I see TTs, and accessories getting better and better. The same with CD only players. I would assume that in the future there will be more Universal players and less CD only players. Rob
CD...then the SACD...all over again Yeah unfortunately, Rlwainwright is right (no pun intended) - even though it's hard to wait when a CD comes out, that seems to make the most sense. It's the same thing with LPs. They release the CD, then 6 months later an audiophile label will pre...
Better for Separates Newbie: Rotel or Adcom? Rotel (2nd) !
Guitar Solos TVAD, No heat at all. I like the "beat it" solo from EVH also. I think the 80's had the best guitar solos. The 90's got a little out of control with virtuosity (if that's a word?). I prefer music for music's sake rather than hearing "look how fast...
How would you desribe Von Schweiket VR-4jr sound? Well that's what you get in a public forum as apposed to professional reviews. The professional reviews are all positive among different camps, not just one or two magazines that are connected to VS. So, I would put more weight on that than a publ...
How would you desribe Von Schweiket VR-4jr sound? I can't say that I would argue with the integration criticism. I don't think any dynamic speakers can compare to the seemless integration of electrostats and planar speakers. These speakers have their own shortcomings which is why I went with the ...
How would you desribe Von Schweiket VR-4jr sound? What Nrchy - your sex life? sorry to hear that.
How would you desribe Von Schweiket VR-4jr sound? Uru97, I've noticed a lot of that. I've seen a demo that was using a transmittion line, and the manual suggests clearly that the sound will be hampered unless you bi-wire. I think these speakers will not sound near their potential unless you bi-wi...
XA777ES vs Meridian 508.24 vs Gamut CD1 in redbook It was modded before I bought it, but the paperwork that was provided showed a price of $277 for the superclock II upgrade which included black gate caps to replace the stock one. |
