Should I or not
The short wall will help with the room modes and bass, but you have to listen nearfield. I would put my money on the shortwall, but you never know. Rob
Sacd/dvd-a, The Hype Is Dead, For Me At Least...
Matrix, You make a good point. With Rock, etc. kind of music, SACD wouldn't provide much benefit. SACD doesn't benefit much from amplified music from what I've heard. Oh well, until the next format comes along to tease us, I guess it's Redbook and...

Matrix, I don't want to come off as a defender of SACD at all. If you get a chance, pick up Ray Brown, Monty Alexander, and Russell Malone SACD from Telarc. It has more of a natural sound then Peter Gabriel's processed music. It sounds better than...
Rachmaninov for beginners
Seantaylor99, It's funny you mention Mozart’s piano concerto 20. That's probably my favorite classical song of all time. I just connect with that peice more than any other. Even though Mozart had the talent to show off, he never did. He never seem...

Matrix, To answer your first question, Irishdog said "I too have found many SACD's underwhelming. There are many LP's and Redbook CD's that sound much better than most SACD's" in the above post.I re-read my post and didn’t see where I made a blank...
One Song Before You Go...
OK - a very dark question. Since I have one song before I go at that point I think music will be the last of my worries. So, I'll pick any song and push the repeat button.

It's funny how many people are saying how bad SACD is, and when it first came out everyone was saying how incredible it was. I guess we have a banwagon going both ways. On a well recorded SACD, the sound is better than CD period. If it wasn't true...

Mghcanuck, No. It is a good thread, and I'm glad someone brought it up. Please no "War on Terrorism" threads. It will just cause a war on Audiogon, and frankly, it's the wrong venue for that sort of thing.

Daddy-O, As soon as you have access to all the information the president does, I'll value your opinion. He was elected, history will judge him. How innapropriate for you to bring up your political frustrations on a post about a sad day for the peo...
An observation about "Modern" classical music.
I like my odds better Jsujo LOL

How do you think the Sony XA777ES (superclock II modded by modwright) would be with the DAC? Rob
tubes or no tubes
I prefer the sound of tubes. But at the moment I am enjoying solid state (until I get some funds to upgrade to what I want). Tubes give a more enjoyable sound to my ears, especially with vinyl. That being said, I like being able to leave my solid ...
CD...then the SACD...all over again
Justin time, You're right debate wasn't the right word. I would assume for movies (especially with HDTV looming) HD DVD will fill the need for the higher resolution TV sets possibly - although, I don't think the average movie watcher cares much - ...
An observation about "Modern" classical music.
LOL Jsujo. I guess it's worth venturing out of what is familiar. Classical music always takes an effort to listen to in order to appreciate. Active listening and understanding just makes the emotions stronger. So, because of this thread I'm going ...
I know I have lost my mind and have gone insane
Well it all starts with the electrons getting stimulated by... just kidding. I don't know why, but it appears that there is a change in my sound as well - not as significant as yours. I don't believe in ghosts or UFOs, but I believe lifting cables...
