Best headphones you've ever heard/used
LOL - oh and make sure you put on your jacket, it's cold outside.
Sacd/dvd-a, The Hype Is Dead, For Me At Least...

LOL Goatwuss. When I listen to my TT, I get that same feeling. But there are too many recordings that aren't on LPs. Otherwise there would be no arguments ;)

rsbeck, I hope you are careful of the high volumes. Hearing damage is easier to do with headphones than with speakers. I'm not trying to be your parent, just a caring audiophile.
Am I missing something?
Wow, I don't remember a thread with such a strong consensus. Creeper makes a good point. If you like what you have but feel like you want to better it. Do the "not so fun, at least for some people" stuff and work on speaker placement, room treatme...

For formats (SACD/DVD-A) where the hype is dead, there sure seems to be enough interest to make it to over 100 posts in a short time.

Yeah why change. I still have thoughts of downgrading my more expensive CD player to get a Jolida JD100. Just because the sound was so addicting. If you're happy don't upgrade.

Goatwuss, I use the MGhead as well with the Senn 600s. I am a big fan of the headphones, and I use them for classical music such as Symphonies (they give better intrument location than the Grados), but when I listen to Grados on jazz, rock, etc. -...

Grado RS-1 with RA-1 amp. I prefer these to the Senns. I own the Senn 600s also, and they do sound more like speakers. They are less fatiguing, but not as musically involving as the Grado RS-1s. I'm sure there are better headphones out there. I ju...

Matrix, Nothing wrong with enjoying your Redbook. You have a good CD player. The sticking point on SACD is the same as it's always been, availability of quality pure DSD software (forget the other SACD recordings- they don't improve much over Redb...

Can you listen to the E3s at reasonable volume since they are very close to the ear drums? Rob
Benchmark Dac1 + Rotel 1072
I like the Rotel 1072. Even though I've upgraded, I haven't sold mine yet. I'm not trying to make a sale. In fact, I'm not listing it yet, but I would recommend the Rotel even though there is a lot of competition at that price range. Do you have a...
new vs. used vinyl, pops and clicks.
RCM is an absolute must. I didn't realize it when I first got into vinyl. But you need the vacuum. Other methods won't get it done. I bought the cheap Nitty Gritty rip off (record doctor) and it cleans, so why spend more? I just needed the vacuum....
JMW-9/Cartridge Problem
I had to order another weight than the standard for my Dyna karat.

As much as all the hype about it replacing CD (Redbook) didn't make it happen. All the hype about it's demise isn't going to kill it either. TVAD is right. In the mean time, I enjoy the 2 SACDs LOL, soon to be more and Redbook until I can get some...
