Any experience with Vac PHI200 power amp My experience is opposite the above post regarding bass response. The Phi 110 I once owned had the most incredible bass response of any amp I've owned including solid state amps. On that amp I did find the top end too soft resulting in a somewhat ...
Best U.S. made integrated tube amp under $2500? There is a Cary sli 50 listed now for 1500.00. It uses el34 outputs. 30 watts class A so it runs hot. My favorite amp. It has a dynamic exciting sound via Triad speakers. No remote control though.
Best Amplification for B&W 802D I agree with Koestner. For your budget the W4S amp will be an excellent choice. I use an ST500 with my N802's and it has plenty of bass with excellent control, and it is not at all bright with the N802.
Separate Insurance Policy - LP's, Memorabilia, Etc I just narrowly averted damage to my LP's when a freak hail storm shattered all of my sky lights and the hail and rain came pouring in. The rack was against the far wall and remained fairly dry except a dose of humidity. I have State Farm and they...
Townhouse speaker dilemma Check out the ESP Bodhran SE speakers currently listed for 6200.00. These speakers will certainly match all of your criteria. They are sealed box and don't boom or thump. The bass is very natural without excess. The soundstage and imaging are firs...
Speaker grills? My Triad speakers were designed to operate specifically with the grilles installed as were my ESP Bodhrans which do not even permit the user to remove the fabric. I've also used my N802's with grilles installed, but in this case it is simply perso...
Dan D'Agostino is back with a new line Only 42K in a down economy. Maybe somebody willing to shell out that much for an amp still has the cash. OTOH it is a good looking amp. I wonder if it is the statement product or the entry level product?
45 degree placement in squarish room? I suppose you are referring to toe-in. My main room is 14x15 and my ESP speakers are designed to have a 45 degree angle into the listening area. I also use quite a bit of toe-in on the speakers in my secondary system but not as much as 45 degrees....
Tube amp to drive Tyler Decade D1's? There is a CJ Premier 140 listed for 3400.00 that should get the job done. No relation to the seller. I will also add that the VAC PA100 which I use, would also be a good choice if you could find one.
How to listen to the good stuff? I would also recommend RMAF. I attended the 07 show and found many oportunities to listen in uncrowded rooms and speak with the equipment designers. I had an enjoyable one on one with David Belles listening to his amps and Usher speakers. I spent ...
VAC Renaissance Pre-amp owners - Help Maybe check to see if any of the pins have backed out in the umbilical connector.
Best used floorstander on the FS forum under $2500 The best picks for your requirements are currently the Von Schweikert VR4 jr, PSB T60, and Revel Performa F50.
Audio Research Preamp with Cary Amp? The pairing you suggest may well work, but the sonic traits of each don't seem like an ideal combination. I would also choose the SLP98 over the LS17.
Speaker footers – Ugh Spikes are promoted to drain energy by various manufacturers and vendors. If your speakers were utilized with the supplied spikes they were designed for, that is likely the best support for them. Any change of support will alter the sound for bett...
$4000 to Spend on Amp, Preamp and USB DAC I would go for the W4S STI 500 and dac 1 or 2. |
