Why is the industry so lame?
I'm having trouble relating to this thread. What is the focused topic about?
Which Mundorf for my tubes?
An often overlooked cap is the Mundorf ZN "improved version". One of the more neutral caps on the market.
Harshness in Midrange??? Any Help
Being that your pre-amp is an LS16MK2 (6H30 Tube version) and not a MK1(6DJ8) version, that could be your problem. I would remove that from the system and try another pre-amp as a first step. The Kimber Hero and 8TC tend to sound brash in the mids...
whistling in the ears
I suffered from tinitus quite horribly all of last winter. A major factor was eliminating a specific artificial sweetener from my diet. The one that comes in the pink packet ie "Sweet and Low" I swithced to "Equal"- blue packet and have improved t...
Difference between Siemens CCa & 7308
An often overlooked Siemens and Halske Tube is the 1960's vintage ECC88/6DJ8. Extremely rare to test one that is not tightly matched between triodes. Just as rare for this tube to be microphonic and even the slight bit noisy. To top it off, no slo...
what kind of audiophile are you ?

Anybody Felt Lower-End ARC preamps Bass-Shy?
I owned an LS-25 mk1 (6922tubes) Infinicaps for many years. While the bass went fairly low, rhythmic drive/impact was sorely lacking.
Krell SACD Standard question....
The only Philips transport based cd player I would purchase is one that uses the CD PRO mechanism. Otherwise, your better off with Pioneer or Sony based players. This is based upon my own personal experience.
Philips VAM1202 Transport Problem- Need some help
Well, this transport with version 21LD optical servo board is only available from China. The 1202 at MCM is appears not the same unit as in my player. Prior to reading here about "don't adjust". I took apart the machine and asked the importer to o...
Musical Fidelity X DAC V8 Tube/SS Anyone???
Curiosity got the better of me and I now have the X-DACV8. Although it needs to "break-in" fully, I can comment as to how it compares to the A5. The tonality is similiar but the X-DAC V8 is noticeably more robust/extended in the bass/lively, a bit...
Raysonic 168
I have experimented with tube rolling the CD168. The two center tubes are reported to affect the RCA outputs and the outer two the XLR. However, my findings are the same as that repoted by Newbee on his CD128. Changing either the inner or outer pa...
Raysonic 168
Undertow, its quite easy and economical to change the two .22uf film caps to whatever type you prefer. The XLR outputs are capacitor free, so you can compare your "experimenting". Although, there are probably some extra op-amps in the XLR signal p...
Raysonic 168
Thanks, for the info. I believe what happened in your unit is that when one tube failed, the filament voltage increased in the remaining tubes due to lower current draw. Resulting in a percieved change in sound. I still need to known which pair is...
Raysonic 168
Which two tubes are used for the RCA outputs in the CD168. Is it the pair in the center? I understand the circuit is configured in matched pairs and a identical matched quad is not needed (for tube rolling purposes) Only a specific matched pair fo...
