Acme silver fuses
I did not hear any change after "break-in". What I did hear with this fuse was an increase in macro-dynamic power and fowardness to the sound.YMMV
Does Raysonic CD128 need to be on top shelf?
Handling that large cover and then placing the puck on the cd is a real annoyance. Especially if you place the player on a shelf other than the top.
Has the internet been good for audio?
I'd have probably lost interest in audio if not for the vast amount of info available on the internet.
Optimal loading for the Orpheus
Online retailers are listing the RB1000 at $1,995. Dang, the weak dollar has really inflated the price of UK Imports.
Optimal loading for the Orpheus
Larryi said:"Nsgarch mentioned concentrating on the change in bass response and you concentrate on the high end. Both extremes are critical. Because I expect a good MC cartridge to deliver an open and airy top end, I am particularly concerned with...
How am I frying all my amps? Oscillating? Help
"The interesting thing?: I am also using Goertz MI2 Veracity Cu speaker cables. The problems only happened after I started using these cables, which was a couple of months ago. Could the cables really cause these problems, or is it just a coincide...
Optimal loading for the Orpheus
Sirspeedy said about the V:"To get all it has to offer though, one really MUST experiment ALOT with set-up variables as well as having a group of reliable audio friends to reinforce these impressions."IMO, more so than any cartridge I've ever owned...
Optimal loading for the Orpheus
"In my rig, there is really no easy way to change loading"There is no such thing as not having an easy way to change loading. Anyone can have infinite ability to load a phono cartridge any value below 1000 ohms. All you have to do is modify the in...
Optimal loading for the Orpheus
I find the Temper V to be very demanding of set-up parameters. If not dialed in just right, I would describe the sound as muddled/conjested/slow even veiled. Careful A/B comparision with the same mastered recording played back on cd as a reference...
Optimal loading for the Orpheus
I've settled on 250 ohms with a Temper V. Resistor is a dale metal film. No interest yet in moving to an o.

I bet the RF problem is the digital Cary Pre-amp:From the owners manuelAll of the Main Room audio output connectors have 24-bit/192 kHz D/A converters operating indual differential mode for excellent sound quality and high dynamic range. In addit...
Audio Research CD7's 6H30 tube rolling
As a possible alternative with many NOS flavors abundant , 6CG7/6FQ7 tubes are available. These tubes have the same pin out as 6H30, similiar GM and can handle 250v. Definitely don't sub 6922/6dJ8 in the CD7.
Tube smell?
Sounds like a lack of engineering foresight. 5687 tubes have a larger cathode than typical small signal tubes. They run hot and are probably melting the circuit board or an adjacent passive component.

There maybe a short in the speakers crossover, preamp could be putting out DC. I'd also can the goertz cable. Certainly don't hook up the repaied amps until you find the problem.
High gain hybrid circuit ss/tube MC phono stage
More info:Currently I'm running a moded tube linestage(no intention on changing) and a ss phono stage. I've recently moded a "tube" cd player with superb results. Now my ss phono stage leaves me wanting more and I'm leaning towards the stand alone...
