One of the main purposes of coupling capacitors at the output of tube preamps is to block DC. A properly designed tube preamp running at spec should be putting out very little DC. I measured mine and it is less than 5 millivolts when fully warmed ...
belles 21a preamp
I had the non-auricap version on loan. Rolled many tubes to try and achieve a sound that I liked. Main gripe was the decay of notes was brutally cut off. Perhaps auricaps may help, but my experience tells me the transitor output stage is the culprit.
Any Cary SLP 2002 owners here?
Yes I own it, spent endless hours of labour working it to perfection- will never sell it. You have identified the weakness of the stock unit. My unit has no weakness. Bass extends further down, soundstage is much deeper/wider and less upfront. Hig...

If you are a DIY'r, I'd be willing to teach you how improve this pre-amp from excellent to outstanding. I have taken apart to the bare case work two of these and put them back together MY way.
Sacrilege Going from Tubes back to Solid State
Look for a SS amp that specs the ouput stage biased into a healthy dose of Class A.
How to tell.....
You could listen to the tube. The 12AX7 will have higher gain.
My system is bright? I need help. thanks
Using 6112 tube pre-amp section in the KW integrated into the Cello amps is not the answer. You need a "real" tube pre-amp to tame down the KW SACD player.
Analytical, revealing COPPER w/
Audioquest comes to mind. Whatever their top of the line DBS copper cable is called---Jaguar I think. Tried those and myself and these should be what your looking for.

You have made your situation quite clear, I do have some further advice. Definitely continue to work on speaker placement and room treatments. Changing speaker cables is what you should do with your limited funds. I have owned the Satori cables th...

I own the MF A5 cd player with the same 6112 output stage as found in your gear. IMO, the bright/fatiguing sound your experiencing is that of your MF gear. I would keep the KW cd player for now, but definitely would change to a different amplifier...
Removing the lid of your amp/preamp
Tube pre-amp is fine to remove lid. Solid State amp is a very bad idea. The SS amp bias is set according to temperature. Remove the lid and the amp will be all over the map in regards to stability/performance due to too much heat loss.
Tranfiguration Orpheus description
I will assume that the "O" has the same stylus and rake angle as the Temper. This requires the VTA to be set differently than most other MC. The tonearm should be a fraction lower at the headshell. Just the opposite of what the typical MC requires...
MHZS Audio CD-66, Looks nice but is it any good ?
Anyone have a link to info on the newest MHZS CD 88. This machine reportedly has tube rectification.
First Sound Preamp Owner's - What NOS tubes?????
The MIT PPFX capacitors are contributing to the lack of sweetness and bloom. I would change those caps, otherwise IMO sell the pre-amp.
The Naim 'sound'
My experience with Naim gear is not positive. I would desribe the sound as relentless and electronic.
