VAC Signature 2a Preamp Question
You're right, it really does look cool, that's one of the things I like about my Phi 200 as well. I know it's not as aesthetically pleasing, but could you move one of the amps down off the rack and put it on a lower platform in front of the rack, ...
Ivan Moravec
Agree, I particularly liked his Chopin interpretations. I had not realized how (relatively) young he was when he made those recordings. Sad news.
VAC Signature 2a Preamp Question
Adding to Dweller's comment, is the control section of the preamp sitting on top of or close to the power supply?
VAC Signature 2a Preamp Question
Did you connect the ground wire from your interconnect running from the tonearm to the preamp chassis?
acurus a250 left channel has no output
If the amp is anything like their DIA, I agree with Zd, it is possible you blew an internal fuse (my friend had a DIA that did this on a few occasions).
Pream question
While both the BAT and ARC are fine preamps, having heard both myself I'd say the difference in their characters is very marked. The BAT is very neutral, closer to a really good solid state unit than the classic tube sound. The LS5, on the other h...
Why Listen To FM Radio For Music Anymore At Home?
Since I cannot use an antenna where I live (HOA restrictions), I have been listening to various local stations from around the world on my internet tuner. This way I can still listen to my old favorite WQXR, as well as the local and other NPR stat...
Why not accordion ?
Thanks for the info and the links, Frogman! I should have remembered it was a Piazolla work.
Why are so many people trying to sell Harbeths?
Of the listings currently on A-gon, one seller is upgrading in the Harbeth line, and all but one of the remaining are dealers' ads for new speakers. Hardly what I'd call a trend.
Why not accordion ?
If you can find them, there were two CDs (re-releases of Vanguard recordings) made by the Hohner Accordion Orchestra, called Accordiorama and Accordiarama 2, which are a lot of fun. I believe they date from the early 60s. Light classics and show t...
PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium
Agree 100% with Zd's last paragraph in his last post. I have heard a few PrimaLuna pieces and thought they sounded terrific. Are there better? Perhaps, but you'll need to hear them to know them, and the differences will generally be subtle. I'd su...
Shindo?
While I own and highly recommend getting a Shindo preamp (Monbrisson) for the reasons mentioned above, I would be very cautious about Shindo amps with speakers of that sensitivity. I tried their 40 watt monoblocs with my 90 db speakers and figured...
Bad news for audiophiles?
Does this mean Geoff will be raising his prices?
Ayre with Wilson
I listened to a very nice-sounding Ayre/Wilson system that used Kubala Sosna Elation cables. Definitely worth auditioning; I think both the Elation and the former top-of-the-line Emotion would work well.

Is your Yamaha one of the three they're trying to sell?Seriously, I agree with Viridian, more information is necessary. There are usually two sides to a story, but in this case you haven't really filled us in on your side.
