Sellers Beware!!!
Agree with Dweller.  I don't like to ship overseas, so if a buyer is willing to have an agent receive the goods in the US on his/her behalf, and my responsibility ends when that agent receives the goods, I would not have a problem with it.  I have...
top 25 speakers of all time, no ribbons?
The Maggie 3.7s were included in the top 25 list, and an Apogee did come in after the top 25 (as did Duntech and Dunlavy speakers and the Infinity IRS V).  I would have placed all of those speakers in the top 25, well ahead of some of the speakers...
top 25 speakers of all time, no ribbons?
Forget Raidho, no Apogees?  I would have thought that one of them would make the list.
Best speakers for Pink Floyd?
Pink Floyd sounded great on Duntech Sovereigns and Princesses driven by big Krell amps..
Active Subwoofer Crossover
Generally you would run a pair of cables from your preamp (or, if you use a source direct to your amp, that source) into the active crossover, then cables from the crossover's outputs to your main amp and the subwoofer. The crossover would not tak...
Active Subwoofer Crossover
I'm not particularly technical, but I'll try to give the explanation I have experienced.  In some subs (like my JL F110 Fathom) there is only a low pass filter to roll off the upper frequency range of the sub, meaning you run your main speakers fu...
Turntable for life
Dchang1981--I owned one of the original Well Tempered turntables for about 3 or 4 years before I got my Basis.  Excellent turntable and an ingenious design.  A good deal lighter in the bass than the Basis, so the tonal balance was on the lighter s...
Fed up with people making noise at classical shows
I always preferred a Row J or K seat in the orchestra at  the NJPAC, gave me the right overall balance.  NJPAC has excellent acoustics.  Must admit, though, I would miss some of the interaction that Brownsfan refers to, though I could get that in ...
Vandersteen 1C's to replace Paradigm Studio 40's??
I also think it's a sideways move, but it will definitely sound different, and maybe that's what you're looking for. Have your dealer give you an audition, in-home if possible.
Vintage Krell Amp... Which would you choose?
Assuming that I had the money and a pair of Duntech Sovereigns, the Krell I would have wanted would be the original KRS monoblocs.  That was the best combination I ever heard with that loudspeaker.  However, that monster amp also melted the driver...
Vitus... Thoughts?
Jlaz--Questio's not stupid, it took me a while to find it too.  On the A-gon home page, put the cursor on Community, then go down the options to Member Lookup and left click.  Type in melbguy1 in the space provided, and when that screen shows ther...
Vitus... Thoughts?
I think you should check out posts by melbguy1 or try to contact him directly.  I believe he now uses Vitus amps with his Magico speakers, and he used Boulder.electronics in the past (as he posted a review of the Boulder 1060).  Part of this answe...
No bass with new turntable?
Just to cover the bases, I assume that you did plug the TT into the phono stage input on the preamp rather than another auxiliary input, correct?  What ae your speakers?
Speakers that are very accurate sounding but don't produce an emotional connection.
I'll also add that "accurate" is not necessarily conveying the music as intended, but rather the RECORDING as produced.  Not always the same thing, as a number of posters have touched on.  There are a lot of old recordings (in classical, early DG ...
Would you be more likely to buy new gear out of state if there was no sales tax
Grannyring, since I don't use Turbo Tax, a question--are you referring just to Federal taxes?  This is a state tax issue.  My accountant's worksheet he sends me has a line item about out-of-state purchases for which I didn't pay tax, and my NJ ret...
