What happened to CAT?
They have never had a website.  I believe the company is still alive, but don't know for sure.  Did you try the phone number in the industry directory (it's for The Analog Shop, they don't list it as a line they carry anymore, but perhaps they can...
Low level crackling sound coming from speakers
I am assuming that you have a Creek integrated amp?  The website seems to indicate that the headphone jack has its own amplifier, so I'd think the preamp part of the integrated is probably where the problem lies.  Don't know what the cause would b...
WORST Experience Ever in Dealing With Woodbridge Stereo NJ
Very unusual, I always have had very good dealings with Tom and Woodbridge. There may be more to the story than meets the eye, but if the basic facts are that the goods were damaged in transit and returned to them so they could pursue the UPS clai...
Cutting below 80 HZ on my mains, so subwoofers handle deep bass?
Virtually every review I have read remarks on how the mids and upper bass from the main speakers are improved when you add a subwoofer.  I have found this to be the case as well in the past when taking the woofers and crossover out of my four piec...
MBL 101E MKII tweeter attenuation
You might want to consider some form of equalization of the signal fed to your amp instead, if no one else answers.  While I have always been impressed by the 101's sound and speed, that top end has always bothered me for long-term listening.
Wilson Audio Haters
Jetter:  Can't add too much to that statement, but I do note that when the Avalon Ascent came out it was often paired with Rowland equipment (I heard them in Mike Hobson's then-boutique store driven by Rowland Model 7s).  They has a tremendous thr...
Adam Audio Alpha Tensor
Terrific speakers.  How do you like them?
Why are low impedance speakers harder to drive than high impedance speakers
Andrei_nz has said it all.  Well done!!!
Theil cs3.5 equalizer with emotive ta-100
If you are using an external amp, then yes, you would run interconnects from the analog out jacks to the input of the equalizer, then interconnects from the output of the equalizer into your amplifier.  If you're using the TA-100 as an integrated ...
Shindo Montrachet EL34 amp -- can it handle impedance of Snell Type A?
If it is truly a 4 ohm minimum, then I doubt the amp will be hurt; sonically, though, as the manual also says and Al mentions above, you probably won't get the sonics that those speakers are capable of giving you (they remain one of my favorite sp...
Shindo Montrachet EL34 amp -- can it handle impedance of Snell Type A?
I found the following link, which indicates a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and sensitivity of 86db, similar to that for the more recent version of the speaker:  http://www.snell.no/the_archives_type_A.htm.The old Stereophile reviews don't have Atki...
Why are low impedance speakers harder to drive than high impedance speakers
I'll embarrass myself by saying I have always thought of it as a hose with water going through it.  If you have a narrow opening at the end (say, using a nozzle), which equates with high impedance in my analogy, you can get a powerful jet of water...
Rogue cronus magnum with dynaudio audience 52 speakers
Should be OK.  For fun one day I brought my Audience 42s out from my HT system and played them with my big rig's Lamm ML 1.1 amps (80 watts) with no problems.  They sounded a lot better than with the Rotel amp that I used in the HT setup too.  The...
Apogee Scintilla Value?
If you're happy with your Prodigies, I would stay with them.  I am not a fan or hater of Apogees, but they are tough to set up, extremely hard to drive, and you don't know how good the rebuild was or where to get them repaired if something goes wr...
Jadis Preamps JPS8, JPS2 and JP80
Originally they were separate, then Jadis started the ganged controls in the early 90s.  Not sure what they do now.  Victor Goldstein (then the Jadis importer) offered to put them in for me in my JP80 at the time, but I turned him down.  It obviou...
