Thiel CS2
dlcockrum is right.  In the 80s, the differences could have been described as the Thiel sound was tilted to the higher frequencies (Jim Thiel argued that the response was flat), the Vandersteen as a darker sound.  I think the two brands evolved so...
A few versus that connect you........what song is it?
Hey Ron, didn't see you called, but I'm usually out on the golf course these days.  That one's easy, Simon and Garfunkle, I am a Rock.  The Dylan one I posted earlier is from Subterranean Homesick Blues.  He certainly had some crazy lyrics in a lo...
A few versus that connect you........what song is it?
Slaw:  Simon and Garfunkle, The Sounds of Silence (or The Sound of Silence, depending on whether you are talking about the acoustic version or the electric version).  Figure mine out from way back yet?
Thiel CS2
Type in "thiel owners" in the search box for the forums and you'll find jafant's thread that started in 2016.  It has become a good thread for Thiel owners to converse and share knowledge about the speakers and associated equipment that works well...
Thiel CS2
Do a search here for the Thiel owners thread, lots of helpful folks there.  I almost pulled the trigger on those speakers back in the mid-80s, but got CS3s instead because of the additional bass (and I couldn't afford the 3.5s at the time).  The C...
A few versus that connect you........what song is it?
Tostadosunidos-I too heard Tom Rush sing that song (along with quite a few of Jackson Browne's songs) back in the 60s.  I kind of like his cover better than the original, though he did alter the words a little, if I recall."Don't wanna be a bum, y...
Best Drum Solos
Google is my friend.  Ron Wilson was the drummer for the Surfaris and Buddy Saltzman was the studio drummer on Dawn and the other Four Seasons hits.
Best Drum Solos
Not the greatest drum solo of all time, but doesn't anyone remember drumming their fingers in school to imitate the Surfaris' "Wipeout"?  Also, at that time the Four Seasons had a number of hits (Dawn, Rag Doll) that featured a pretty good drumme...
Help... my turntable is alive!
I agree with teo audio, I would call Basis, they are very helpful.
How will I know when a Krell KSA-80b needs to be recapped?
Yeah, the KSA 80 first came on the market in 1987 or 88, as that's when I bought mine, so I'd say it's in the 25 year old category.  Really nice amp; it might be ready for a recap or tuneup, but it would be worth the price, as there is not much in...
Please help me find amp that sounds like a Jadis I50
Devialet?  It's very good, but it definitely is NOT the Jadis sound.  Cayin has some excellent models that can give you a softer tube sound; also, an older VAC integrated like the Avitar, might do the trick.
Audio Physic Virgo I (or Virgo II): still considered a very good or great speaker?
I had a pair of Virgos in my room years ago for an audio club meeting.  While the bass was a little problematical in my room (purely a room interaction that made it a little too warm), they did have that magic the others above are talking about. A...
Lifters ForGetting Cables Off The Floor, Worth It Or Snake Oil
My experience has been yes for interconnects; haven't noticed much difference with speaker cables, but the risers do keep them much tidier.  I ran my interconnects under my floor and suspended them as Geoffkait mentions from the basement ceiling (...
Speaker Isolation -- Experience with Townshend Seismic Isolation Podiums
Thanks for the answers, the podiums are apparently a little different than the cradles.  Never used Stillpoints, though I had tried other various isolation/coupling devices under my prior speakers before settling on the Speaker Cradles, which made...
Speaker Isolation -- Experience with Townshend Seismic Isolation Podiums
I'm not sure if the new Townshends are like my Townshend speaker cradles, but if they are keep in mind that they will raise the tweeter level of your Nolas (as they do mine).  Now this may not matter if the Stillpoints, etc. that the Nolas are on ...
