Scratchy pops coming from the left channel when I turn up the volume why? Perhaps an aging tube?
is it ok to leave a tube amp on without speakers connected No, and agree you should never connect and disconnect speakers with the amps on in any case.
Similar sounding bands. That's Country, CZ. Bluegrass is much better.
A.J.Conti Passes. Very sad news, one of my favorite people to speak with in audio. RIP.
Little help please First thing to do is to switch the outputs between the amps (with the amps off, of course) and see if the problem stays with the amp or with the outputs. That would eliminate that possibility.
Whats on your turntable tonight? Shouldn't you and I be listening to Bob Dylan's "Hurricane" tonight?
MBL omnidirectional speakers. How do they sound ? I've heard them on numerous occasions, almost always with mbl electronics (once with Jadis JA 500s). Absolutely astonishing soundstaging and transient speed, very lifelike dynamics. You can walk right into the soundstage, like with an omni-direc...
Please Recommend Audiophile Solo Piano Recordings Doubt it's on download, but the VAI CDs of Moravec playing Chopin (originally Connoisseur Society recordings) are uniformly excellent, sonically and artistically. I'll also second the Nojima recordings mentioned above by Newbee.

I would rate most Harmonia Mundi recordings, particularly those produced by Robina Young, as among the best I have hea...
When will there be decent classical music recordings? As I mentioned, if you want recordings with mikes throughout the orchestra, check out the Deutsche Gramophone catalog. They place mikes throughout the orchestra (almost in the laps of the musicians, in the early years), run everything through a m...
When will there be decent classical music recordings? Nah, I'll stay old school, thanks.
Anyone has a sound like that ? Impressive. They all seem to sound the same through my computer speakers. :)
very dumb question +1 with Dekay's post; there is a record out on your unit. that will bypass the volume control and give you the best sound from the unit. After you live with it for a while (and perhaps try the Brio by itself rather than through the Prima Luna, m...
When will there be decent classical music recordings? I disagree with your assertion about "no decent classical recordings", as from my point of view in the audience I think a lot of today's and yesterday's recording engineers and producers do a nice job of recording orchestras, though not necessaril... |
