Store auditioning and then buying on-line from others. How do you feel about it ?
I was in a local high end store today to purchase some records and it was a thoroughly pleasant experience.  They had some nice speaker playing so I sat to listen.  A salesman asked if he could help me at all.  I explained I wasn't currently in th...

Mapleshade Isolation: Does Nothing?
You mean you've discovered a high end audio tweak actually does nothing audible?I'm astonished ;-)
Goldenear Reference Vs. Focal Sopra #2.....pocket the $5k difference and don't look back?
I've heard the GE reference.  I think it's a lot of speaker for the money.Though I personally find them tonally boring.
Help! Subwoofer Newbie Problems!
Good info about the anti-mode, willemj.I've heard that it's not quite transparent enough for some people when used over the entire system, but works well on just the sub signal.  Sounds like that set up worked for you.
Help! Subwoofer Newbie Problems!
Great responses, thanks!snapsc,I like my Conrad Johnson tube preamp/amp too much to switch to solid state.  Every time I've tried SS I've run back to tubes.  Learned my lesson.  (I believe the crossover I'm going to use will pass along the charact...
No love for Verity?
I've been able to have good listening sessions to several verity speakers, including the Verity Audio Parsifal Ovation.Verity is one of those speakers that are pleasant, very competent, musical, and I get why they have their fans...yet I'm unmoved...
Help! Subwoofer Newbie Problems!
Little update:I managed to get sound happening to the subs via my pre-amp outputs (turned out to be stupid user error.  I had to crank the output level of the subs far more than I imagined vs using the high level inputs). Some listening yielded the...
ROON help needed
Good to know pophaudio.I'm planning to move from a raspberri pie/squeezebox platform to Roon, because I like the idea of the better Tidal integration and the added track/artist info. I just hope I like the iPad app for Roon as much as I like the i...
Store auditioning and then buying on-line from others. How do you feel about it ?
Although I won't waste an audio store owner's time, on the subject of "value added," for the most part I don't get much value added specifically from the dealer.  From the store and the ability to audition a piece of gear, yes.  But all the rest  ...
The best tweaks EVER..
Looks like the OP has made plenty of con-men happy.
Former Tekton owners: What have you moved on to?
It seems a prevailing sentiment is, oddly, that one can say upon setting up a new speaker (like the Tektons) "It was immediately obvious how much better these were from my previous speakers!"But if someone says "It was immediately obvious these sp...
Leather couch, leather love seat or single wooden chair
I use a very large sectional sofa custom built for the room (it's also my home theater room).  It can seat up to 7 adults comfortably.  For me, music and entertainment are for sharing.  Of course,  2 channel listening is an extreme niche these day...
Store auditioning and then buying on-line from others. How do you feel about it ?
I personally never quibble about price if I'm buying from a local audio dealer.  If I'm buying new, so long as I know I'm just not getting shafted on the price, I'm not going to haggle.  It's my feeling that running a high end audio store is diffi...
Store auditioning and then buying on-line from others. How do you feel about it ?
That said, my recent bought of speaker auditioning brought up an ethical question:How committed should I feel to a dealer who gives a crappy audition experience???I had a couple that left a bad taste in my mouth. In one case I was auditioning A...
