Not much discussion around MBL
Sorry about your "bad news," geoffkait.   I don't like how loud MBL tends to do their demos; I don't think this helps the sound. I can't be sure it was CES 2000, or the year before or after (or THE SHOW) as I attended a couple around those years....
Not much discussion around MBL
Well, if you want some talk on MBLs...here’s a bunch :)I own MBL speakers. (As well as currently owning Thiel 3.7 and 2.7 speakers, Spendor, Waveform, Hales...and like many here I’ve owned plenty of different speaker types and brands). The first ti...
Help! Tweaking My Lovan Rack for new Big A**ed Transrotor Turntable!
BTW, interesting test results:In putting away some audio boxes I re-discovered my old Auralex Subwoofer platform that I never really used. It’s a thicker-foamed version of the turntable platform. I tried a little experimenting with the Auralex and...
Help! Tweaking My Lovan Rack for new Big A**ed Transrotor Turntable!
mulveling,Thanks for the input.  Believe me, I'd love to get a new rack.  Unfortunately the Adona racks are too big.  I'm working with a really restricted level of space, which is one reason the small size of the Lovan has worked well for many yea...
My Home Speakers, My Car, and Me...The Ballad of What's Going Wrong?
Just a note, evolvist:  while smaller speakers can be easier to integrate in a smaller room, you don't have to give up on bigger speakers.   If you place them right, and treat the room right,  you can have the glory of full range sound in a small ...

Bill 10907,Since you welcome all opinions...here’s mine :-)Don’t rely on cables as an attempt to tone control. Aside from the dubious claims that they will make much difference in the first place, if cable manufacturers are changing the sound, the...
How Much $ for my Micro Seiki DD 40 Turntable?
Ok, it looks like I should take this to another forum.  Thanks yogiboy.

zkga,Glad it worked out for you.  Your experience is the type of lesson many audiophiles could benefit from; you'll get far more from the free tweak of playing with speaker placement than from spending money playing cable roulette.  (And of course...

jab, mulveling,Thanks for the additional input.  I really appreciate it.Having priced a custom rack, I'm still stuck for now with the Lovan until I can afford a new rack.I'm going to have a maple butcher block made, I figure about 2 to 2 1/2".The ...
Searching for the most "accurate" speaker (below 15K)
Dave,Thanks. I’ve been at this hobby a long time too, I’ve got a good idea of why I like the Thiels ;-)I know the old Thiel rep for brightess. It was actually hearing the Thiel CS6s on VAC amps, way "back in the day" that got me interested in Thie...
Searching for the most "accurate" speaker (below 15K)
Well, since this is one of the few threads featuring talk of the Paradigms that hasn’t gone to sh#t, I figure I’ll post this here:As I mentioned on the Thiel owner’s thread (I have Thiel 3.7s and 2.7s), I auditioned the Paradigm Persona 3F recentl...
My speaker quest
brownsf,Could you give a bit of detail on what you heard with the Audio Physic Codex?I think the new Audio Physic speaker designs - e.g. Avanti/Codex - are their most attractive ever and among the most beautiful current speakers.  I liked what I h...

jafant,The Paradigms were mated with a big Anthem amp. Don’t know which one, but it was big! I first listened to some vinyl (I don’t know what record player) and then I listened to my own burned CD demo tracks (I think it might have been a Bryston...
Help! Tweaking My Lovan Rack for new Big A**ed Transrotor Turntable!
Thanks for all of the input.  There's a heck of a lot of opinions for me to consider (even worse when I research threads in audiogon and other forums).I'm still set on a nice big hunk-o-wood for the turntable to sit on, then likely the Townsend po...
