Error in Upsampling Certain CDs? No...I'm a nurse. That said...what makes you think that upsampling is your problem?? I've read that "upsampling" is very similiar to oversampling. Doesn't that mean that the same data is read 128 times or whatever? It's a method to make sure that ...
best cable for dac Both of the above are correct...the Cardas Lightning 15, Elco Ultimate (the silver one), and the Acoustic Zen MC2 are my faves. I still haven't picked a favorite yet, but I think I'm leaning towards the Elco. It's similar to the Cardas, but maybe ...
Error in Upsampling Certain CDs? Is your CD clean and scratch free?? That may be the problem. I've also had friends tell me that some of their oldest CDs are deteriorating to some extent. THat could easily cause reading errors too.
Help InterConnect and Speaker Cables The Cardas Golden Cross might be exactly what you're seeking. They're very detailed and excellent in every way (including the highs), but they add a bit more mid-bass and bass. Nothing drastic, but enough to make vocals sound a bit more full when ...
Any phono sections with adjustments on fly/front? The Counterpoint SA-5000 also has its loading switches on the front...100, 300, 47,000 ohm plus a fourth that allows the user to plug in their own resistors.
New Digital Format Copy Protection on Digital Out. This is the second post I've seen mentioning that SACD and DVD-A don't have a digital out...doesn't that make sense right now?? I realize that it's not very forward thinking, but what good would it do you?? Your DACs and digital processors aren't ...
Why didn't the DAD format take off?? Hi Creeper...I know which "DAD" you're referring to (and you're right), but I'm talking about the Digital Audio Disc. They were 24/96 audio releases using the standard DVD format (not DVD-A) that came out a few years ago. Classic records released ...
What group do you wish would be remastered? The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. I'd love to see them re-mastered correctly, and possibly re-issued with the stereo and mono version on one CD (since all of those albums are so short). I highly doubt that will ever happen, but a fella can dream...
PayPal may be in trouble...... I believe that part of the agreement with PayPal (the terms that you agree to when you sign up with them) absolves them of any responsibility for your transactions. I'm sure they do what they can to help someone solve their problems because it's i...
Help Choosing Tube Preamp I'm not familiar with the above units, but the Counterpoint SA-2000 (no phono) and SA-3000 (with phono) are often sold used near that price range and they sound very very good.
Really dumb question about Atmasphere amps I think I remember reading that it keeps the signal path shorter than putting them in back.
new dacs Used EVS Millenium DAC 2's are worth seeking out. THey're only one year old (24/96 upsampling), but Ric Schultz decided to stop making them to focus on single box player mods. (www.tweakaudio.com) They're excellent, but may be hard to find these d...
DAC - Cheap Upsampler or Old Standby? This has been discussed a million times before and it pretty much comes down to the designs and the implimentaion of the specific design. There are all kinds of different DACs in all price ranges and there really is no "best". Everyone seems to fi...
Is Harman Kardon Signature amps/pre-amps that bad? There's nothing wrong with HK components in their price range. I think you don't see a lot of mentions on this site because most people are talking about equipment that costs more than the HK products...sometimes significantly more. I have seen qu...
Low Level, Nearfield Nirvana? You might want to try an audiophile speaker instead of the Genelecs, which are considered "professional" monitors. There is a difference between the two. Pro monitors attempt to be very detailed and faithful to the source, where most audiophile sp... |
