Establishing a common analog listening bias Atmasphere,Thank you for the suggestions. Are those LPs readily available as new issues or must one track them down on Ebay?
Best speaker in the US $ 30-45.000,00 range If you have heard the Magico V3 and like it, I would consider holding out for the new Magico Q3 which will be launched in January. But I agree with what others have said. Listen to all of these at dealers and narrow the list. Then listen to the to...
Magico - a new Mini? It's funny how the Q3 resembles my old Eggleston Rosa which I replaced with the Mini II. The Egglestons had a similar aesthetic to the Q3 - black floor standing monoliths (granite sides) with five drivers on the front baffle,. They were narrow and...
how do you determine anti-skate settings? In my rig, less is better. I recently did a bunch of testing and it sounds better at about 1 than at zero. IOW, half the value of my vertical tracking force (2.0g for AirTight PC-1) on my SME V arm. I have found it to be very arm/cartridge depende...
Establishing a common analog listening bias Dertonarm,I, for one, appreciate your efforts in this thread and was hoping that it would lead to some kind of list that we could use to discuss sonics and systems. However, the thread died about a year and a half ago. Why not tally the results, m...
Establishing a common analog listening bias Thanks Viridian. I found your fourth post and get your point. You don't think it is a good idea to create a list of recordings that we could use as a common basis for discussion. However, to Dertonarm you wrote: "And a really bad try at that." I t...
New Magico Speaker the Q3 I'll spread the speculation that I have heard: low $30K's. Should be announced at CES.
Establishing a common analog listening bias Viridian,Please explain your comment.
Magico - a new Mini? Yes,Jonathan Valin mentioned the Q3 on a TAS conference call last night. It will be launched at CES and he speculates that the pricing will be in the low $30Ks. I agree with the suggestions that they will phase out all wooden enclosures for an all...
Who is the KING of MONOS? Roysen,Admittedly I am biased, but you don't think any design from Nelson Pass is worth of inclusion?
How close to the real thing? Timlub,A recording of that marching band would not sound like the real thing on my stereo system. That much is obvious. However, the fact that I can identify it as a marching band with certain specificity about types of instruments, orientation of...
How close to the real thing? Somehow my original question: Are we making progress and how close are we? has prompted people to write things like "my stereo will never sound like my piano." Though I don't know how we could ever presume to know something with such certainty abo...
How close to the real thing? Mapman,I agree with you that there is nothing like the sound in good seats at a well designed hall. I don't think I'll ever get my Mini IIs to deliver large scale classical music convincingly or certainly not a rock concert. My room and those moni...
Who is the KING of MONOS? If you're talking Pass Labs, what about the XA200.5? I'd throw ARC 610 into the mix. There are also the VTL, Solution etc. High power, low power, SS, tubes?Speaker and room have more to do with selection than anything else, IMO.
How close to the real thing? Thank you for the many and varied responses. The thread answered some questions which I was not aware I had asked. Having listened to many recordings of piano and other music on LP on my system since I started this thread and I have concluded that... |
