Who is the KING of MONOS?
0461,"NEUTURAL". I love it! Is that both Natural and Neutral? Best of both worlds.
best class a amp for a grand?
Pass Aleph 3 would be my choice.
How far apart do you position your speakers ?
I started with finding the best seating position in my room. I did this by ear, listening for the best balance for a smooth and articulate bass response. Then I placed my speakers front to back for staging/depth while maintaining good bass balance...
pre for Pass xa60.5
I strongly suggest you audition a used Pass XP10. I have the XA160.5 and XP20 and it is a superb combination. I agree with Tvad about going balanced with this amp. Also, forget a fancy power cord for this amp and put the $$ toward a better preamp....
Sonus Faber Stradivari amp: X600.5 or X1000.5 ?
And that you were my friend. Thank you for the kind compliment.
Sonus Faber Stradivari amp: X600.5 or X1000.5 ?
Knghifi,That was funny. You are right that a better DAC would improve things a bit. But you stating that "perhaps I NEED a better DAC...." is a presumption on your part. "NEED" is way too strong a word. I'm an analog guy, so even "WANT" may be too...
Sonus Faber Stradivari amp: X600.5 or X1000.5 ?
I've had my XA160.5's for about a year and I think they have about 900 hours on them. As I wrote earlier, I did not notice a big change during the first few months. "Perhaps a very slight increase in smoothness, soundstage expansion and instrument...
Anti skating SME V
I own an SME V and Doug's explanation above is what I experience. I manually lower the arm very slowly into the lead groove, rarely if ever allowing the arm to leave the cueing support. Once the stylus hits the vinyl and moves into the lead groove...
Best Record Cleaning Process on a Loricraft
Yes Sunnyboy,The demagnetizer I use is a Geneva Audio/Video Tape Eraser model #PF-215. I bought it originally to demag my CDs in about 1994 and to erase VHS tapes. It cost about $60 back then, though I don't know if it is still available. The Furu...
Considering analog...but nervous
Fatgh0st,Congratulations and thanks for the follow up. Yours is a great story. This has been an interesting thread considering the range of early responses. Others are correct when they tell you that it's easy to get hooked and lost in the expense...
Best Record Cleaning Process on a Loricraft
Sunnyboy,Sounds like you have a good routine with excellent results. Congratulations. May I suggest you now follow up giving your newly cleaned LP a demag before you insert it in a new sleeve? I do it with a bulk tape eraser for about a minute and...
Sonus Faber Stradivari amp: X600.5 or X1000.5 ?
Johnb30,Congratulations on your new amps. I also own a pair. Mine are demos that were used about one month before I got them. I left them on 24/7 and playing music during the day for about a week. I did not notice a big change during that time. Pe...
Pass X150.5 vs. X250.5
I agree with Swanny. Amps directly into wall. Ccanino, My Equitech unit has isolated and separate plugs for digital and analog and I still unplug my digital when I spin LPs.
Why Use Aluminum for a TT Platter?
I think the key to an aluminum TT platter is to properly damp the aluminum to reduce resonance. This is often done within the platter and/or on top of the platter as in the case of SME. Mass does matter depending on the drive system and what probl...
Magnetization & Demagnetization any conclusions?
I use a Geneva bulk tape eraser (about $80) to demag my LP's once after I clean them on my Loricraft RCM. I notice a definitely audible drop in noise floor. The process takes me about one minute, only once, and I find it worth the effort. I would ...
