proper use of arc protractor ?
Yes, Audioblazer. I think you observation is correct and I don't know how to get around this. My point was just that the VTA does change the overhang, so I set VTA roughly where it will end up (because I don't change VTA for each LP with my SME V ...
proper use of arc protractor ?
I would just add a couple suggestions to Mark's very good post above. I presume your Mint is designed for your specific arm (and cartridge, if the headshell has holes but not slots like SME arms). First, you must make sure that the turntable platt...
SME V arm: dynamic VTF or straight weight
Well, it's been about a year and a half since I started this thread and I think I shall add a recent observation:I have been researching new arms and am intrigued by the two SME 12" arms, the 312S and the V-12. Besides the detachable headshell on ...
Preamp with Aleph 5 and Thiels
I don't know about the Aleph/Thiels match, but I had the Aleph P with the Aleph 5 and it was a great combination. I would also consider a used Pass X-1 which is quieter, more neutral and more transparent than the Aleph P, though I never had the X-...
To clean zerodust
The reason I use the Zerodust after the Magic Eraser is that the ME may leave microscopic white particles on the stylus that have rubbed off. The Zerodust gets these off the stylus and they stick to the goopy surface and can't become airborne. A s...
To clean zerodust
The rubber part is not attached to the paper backing. I use some tap water and one drop of liquid dish soap and pat dry. I use this after I clean the stylus with Magic Eraser.
Has anyone heard the new Pass Labs XP-15 phono?
Thanks Thom. I plan to attend and hope to meet you there. Thanks for the information.Peter
pass labs xa100.5 or pilinius sa 103
This is easy. You already have the Plinius. Just borrow the Pass from the dealer and decided which sounds better in your system. I haven't heard the Plinius, but I did own the XA100.5. It is fantastic.
Audio Desk Vinyl Cleaning System
Tbg,I guess our experience differs. I use the AIVS four-step solutions and find I need to give the enzyme soak about 10 minutes which makes the whole process very long. Do you find the Walker enzyme soak sufficient after just one minute?I also had...
Audio Desk Vinyl Cleaning System
If you want speed and convenience, buy the AudioDesk system. If you want audibly cleaner LPs and don't mind the time, buy a point nozzle type (Loricraft, Monk, Odyssey). The results are in the listening.
Loricraft prc 3
Did you reengage the rubber belt between the motor pulley and the platter?
Dan D'Agostino is back with a new line
Very interesting that the website did not mention much about sound or technical details. Lots of pictures though.
Adjusting SRA using macro lens vs microscope
I have experimented lately with A/S on my SME V arm and AirTight PC-1 and found that it sounds better with about .6 or .7 grams on the dial. Without A/S, the sound was a bit thin and uninvolving. With a little A/S there was more body and weight an...
magnetic drive turntables
I'd think a DD table on a magnetic suspension would be better. Would all that magnetism effect the cartridge?
$12K Laser turntable vs $12k hi-fi turntable?
Try to hear it for yourself and then compare it with a conventional rig. $12K can buy a pretty good used analog front end. Add the cost of an excellent record cleaning machine for either. They are essential.
