We all have opinions. Most of us have biases and some of us have agendas. These forums are used mostly for the sharing of opinions, often for promotion and occasionally for disinformation. I always learn something and appreciate the participation ...
Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne
Ack, I agree with you 100%. I mentioned the MM1/Q7 rumor in an earlier post by starting with the sarcastic word "apparently". I guess my point got lost. I don't believe the story for a moment. The whole Magico/AE marketing rivalry seems to have go...
Magico V2 vs. Q1
I just saw the S1 at my local dealer. Lovely looking speaker. I went back the next day to listen to it but they had swapped it out for the S5. The dealer told me that he thinks the S1 sounds much more like the Q1 than the S5 sounds like the Q5. Pe...
Magico V2 vs. Q1
Very interesting review Kana. Thanks for posting it. I wish more reviews had such extensive measurement data. The room in which the review took place seems very reflective and underdamped. I also wonder if those Transparent cables were reconfigure...
Magico V2 vs. Q1
My room is 15' X 16' (240 sq feet) and the bass I get from the Mini 2 is tremendous. I use Pass XA160.5 because the Mini is a tough load and I listen pretty loudly when the music calls for it. The Q1 is supposed to extend even further in the bass....
What is the best power cord for pass labs xa100.5?
I have owned many Pass Labs amps. Back when I had the Aleph 2 I bypassed outlets and power cords by getting JPS Labs In-Wall AC cable and running two 15' lengths directly from separate 20 amp circuits on my panel through the floor and terminating ...
Magico V2 vs. Q1
I've asked myself a similar question regarding my Mini 2. So far I've resisted because of the price difference between a used Mini 2 and a new Q1. I also greatly prefer the aesthetics of the Mini. The V2 is a great speaker, IMO, though I slightly ...
Question about Pass Labs X 350.5 meter
The needles on my XA160.5 take even longer to get to their normal point. I'd just email Kent at Pass or Mark at Reno. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Thoughts on SME 10A
Bob, Have you decided to get the SME?
Thoughts on SME 10A
I owned the Model 10/A for about seven years before upgrading to the 30/12. The 10 is indeed an extremely well designed, engineered and reliable turntable. I tested the speed on a KAB and it was very, very slightly fast, but then I replaced the be...
Wilson Sasha
I have the Pass XA 160.5 amps with small, inefficient, sealed two-way stand mounted speakers, but when I play the Sheffield Labs Drum LP really loud, the bass impact, articulation and speed is tremendous. I also have a small room. I hired Jim Smit...
HRS M3X isolation base or Minus-K?
If you are open to more suggestions, I would add Vibraplane to the list. I have three active units under my turntable and each amp. They are extremely effective.
$$$ vs music enjoyment
Thanks for your observation, Zd542. You are right, I have no illusions about the limitations of our audio systems. I do enjoy my evening listening sessions with friends. My time spent listening to live orchestras has served as a reference guide an...
Trans Fi Salvation direct rim drive turntable
You write a few posts up (1/30) that it was the SME 20, not the SME 30-12 with V-12, that you were prepared to buy. Quite a difference there. There is a substantial increase in both sonics and price between the two models. Glad you are happy with ...
Mint LP Best Tractor---HELP
I've had two Mint protractors and can not recommend them enough. I especially like the Zenith adjustment at the null points. This is extremely precise and easy to verify. I've not tried the Feickert.
