I am enjoying my analog system, but what can I do to improve?
Harmonics don't stop at 20kHz and it's been shown that they can have a direct impact what we hear. Supertweeters do add the edge you are are wanting and would be well worth considering particularly if you are analog and the source extends higher t...
Bigger and Better: Integrated Amplifiers
I had once integrated, but upgraded to separates. Good move. In any case, I reject bad rules and substitute mine own.
How much “suspension of disbelief do you need?”
Obviously a recording can never reproduce the dynamics of a live performance. Who in their right mind would expect to have a full symphony orchestra crammed into their room. Even if it was possible it'd sound horrible. A better test is how do ind...
Why spend more than $25 per piece of equipment on vibration reduction?
Where is the King of Springs @millercarbon ???? Great opp for him to sell some KYB Springs. I've noticed his absence and wondered what's happened? I'm fairly certain the material used in springs is 100% transmissible and therefore there's a f...
Audio Friends Don't Let Audio Friends ...
Can someone answer this proposition? Does room characteristics have a bigger impact on sound the louder it is played? What if the owner wanted to show off the system by playing it much louder than usual and the end result was it sounded horrid?
Is Rap a valid musical form?
I think most rap is noise flavored with trendy vulgarities.   But this is America and everyone has the right to listen to whatever they want so long as they don't make me listen to it.  Exactly. It certainly can't be considered musical by any...
Audio Friends Don't Let Audio Friends ...
If they are happy, then keep it to yourself, why deflate the bubble.... There is a possibility the situation is actually the reverse and friend is not appreciating the improvement.
I Don't Want to be an Audiophile, What am I...
As has been well said Audiophile is a completely appropriate term. Perhaps sometime in the past you developed a misconception concerning audiophile types and you don't want to be classified according to that misconception. There are many differe...
Playing CDs sounds better than Qobuz — dammit
Would it be better if I had a CD or download? I just don't care... I'm glad you're satisfied. If one is clearly superior to the other then maybe you should unless you are easily pleased. I must admit to occasionally listening to AAC 192 kbps ...
I'm not all in on digital systems because I'm not all in on DACs
I think the reviewer is talking about the ADC which upsamples all signals whether they are analog or digital. It's what I've read on every review of it so far. All the best, Nonoise Purists probably want to avoid ADC - DAC chain.
Do we really know what "Live" music sounds like?
If we don’t who does?  Being a member does not mean a thing. Here's an analogy for you. When you see the forest, do you just see the trees or do you appreciate the tress, their leaves, their texture and the way the light hits the foliage? Wha...
Unidentifiable popping sound
I'm not sure if this will help, but I experienced a similar crackling sound and it was a cable shield that wasn't earthed. Once it reached a certain level it discharged across the inner insulation. It was a quality brand subwoofer cable with terr...
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
Maximum is maximum and it makes no different if the control has 10, 11 or even 12 positions.
What's a reasonable listening position response curve?
Even if we accept 110% is used as an alternative to "absolutely 100%" the statement is wrong as sound quality is far more than just frequency response. I also don't agree with the statement maximum tolerable variance is at most +/- 0.05dB, and I ...
