CD...then the SACD...all over again
That kind of stuff (i.e., different relese times, cost differences) has lead me to abandon SACD. I have sold all my single layer SACD discs, my SACD player, and have never looked back. SACD was great. It got me into jazz music. In the end, though,...
Apogee Mini DAC: Connection questions
Onhwy61: HA! That made me laugh....of course i'm being silly....but at $30, the gold plated Belkin USB would be the least I ever spend on an interconnect. Thanks for the laugh.
Apogee Mini DAC: Connection questions
I am getting one of these too. Is there anyone who makes an audiophile grade USB cord? I have seen that Belkin offers a gold plated USB....am I being silly?
Are most DAC's compatible w computers?
I think their latest is the U24.....at least that is what is currently on their interet site. It really is a nice product.
DACs: Airport Express vs waveterminal vs mini-dac
I just figured out that I can get lots of great radio through my computer/internet as well. I can now sell my changer and tuner if I want. I am thinking about putting my money towards a really good DAC since my computer is turning out to be the he...

Are most DAC's compatible w computers?
Thanks, Ckorody. You are right that a USB DAC would be a simpler path than adding a DAC via the Waveterminal. Are there any other USB DAC's worth considering besides the Apogee (without breaking the bank)? Thanks,
DACs: Airport Express vs waveterminal vs mini-dac
I am using the U24 as well, with nice results. But I want more. I am trying to decide between the Apogee USB Mini DAC and the Benchmark DAC 1. Any opinions or experience?
Are most DAC's compatible w computers?
I am using a G4 laptop out to a Waveterminal 24 ($159) and the Waveterminal directly into my integrated amp. The sound through the Waveterminal is at least as good the sound of my MAC changer (maybe a little better). I am trying to decide between ...

Well the whole project has, thus far, come off without a hitch. They system sounds excellent and I love having music at the scroll of a mouse. Now for the long, arduous task of importing all my music to iTunes....
Music from hard drive better than CD?
Not sure how to explain it but my new computer set-up does sound qualitatively better than my McIntosh MCD 205 changer (which IS saying something). I'm sure many dedicated cdp's would sound better.
AAC or AppleLossless
My system is set-up now and I am beginnning to import music to iTunes using AppleLossless. The sound quality through the Waveterminal U24 has far exceeded my expectations. It sounds great!
Music from hard drive better than CD?
Well, I finally got my music server together and I am very impressed with the sound. I am using a G4 laptop, a Lacie hard drive, and a Waveterminal U24. Music off of the hard drive sounds excellent, and I LOVE having my music accessible via iTunes.
Polk XRt12 XM Tuner
They are practically giving these things away. At Polk's website you can buy one right now for $269 and they are having a promotion where, when you do buy one, you get a mail in certificate for a free Roady II portable XM receiver (like, for a car...
AAC or AppleLossless
Not at all. My entire collection will easily fit on this 500Gb drive with no problem. So, I am not asking about this because of space issues. I am really only interested in the best quality. Apple Lossless it sounds like?
