Why not horns?
I have found this to be a very educational thread. Well done to those making positive contributions.I too heard the CAR setup at Akfest and thought it sounded quite good. But as a point of comparison, for substantially less money and far smaller p...
The Sound or Music
300 records is not enough! If it were 3,000 records, then I'd be tempted.About a decade ago I started to get heavily into early Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and various Delta blues artists. The quality of the recordings presented problems for m...
The Sound or Music
I don't cherish sound over substance. I like good sound, but I love good music. If I had to chose between all my music or my systems. The choice would be a no brainer. The music would win. Fortunately, it's never an either or choice.
Bill Evans Complete Riverside - No Side 2?
Thanks for looking into it. I'm going to contact Fantasy records. I'll let you know what they say.
Does "perfect alignment of cart" eliminate 100% ?
If you're talking about it happening on many records, then your cartridge setup needs work. If it's only on one or two records, it could be the recordings or your specific discs.
Why not horns?
Macrojack, part of the reason you're getting some negativity about this post is because there's an inherent arrogance in your question. You may not have intended that to be the case, but it's there. In form your question is no different than, "I'v...

Class "D" amp? I do not have a clue. Do you?
Stringreen, please explain your statement. I don't see anywhere on the Vandersteen website or the user manual's where it's stated not to use class D amps.

Post more pictures of your entire room. The one picture on your system page could be misleading, but it does look like you're leaving much of your system's potential untapped.
amp clipping or low freq causing pumping speakers
Have you tried repositioning your turntable? You might have it placed in a room node peak.
amp clipping or low freq causing pumping speakers
You're a little unclear, but it sounds like your turntable is not sufficiently isolated.
Do I really need R2R ?
Damn right, you should be scared. Only get a r2r if you're physically fit enough to deal with the throngs of hot, young, buxom audiobabes who will permanently encamp themselves in your listening room. A r2r is more trouble than it's worth, but if ...
High powered point to point tube amp?
Why do you think you need a tube amp? What's wrong with what you got now?
The Next Step - what would you do?
Before doing anything else, experiment with a better quality balanced cable between your D/A and amp. It could easily solve your resolution problem and really help with the dynamics too.
