Half speed master
My understanding is that half-speed mastering was used to cut discrete 4 channel disc in the early 70s. It was developed so they could accurately cut 40kHz+ signals to the vinyl. It was thought that when used on normal stereo recordings that great...
Is my room doomed? Pic
Why are people recommending omni type speakers? If anything, assuming different speakers are even needed, I would think a controlled directivity design would be a better option. Just curious.
Is it possible? A good solution?
It's not stupid, but it does raise the question "WHY?"If you're going to go this route, then go all the way. Dump the traditional phono preamp and have your RIAA EQ done in the digital domain. I know Pure Vinyl offers setups like that, but maybe o...

The picture could be misleading, but your speakers seem very wide apart.
Differences in sound as related to watts?
In reading through the thread I don't see where there's a consensus about speakers. Although several people have asked you to explain what you mean by "big sound".
Select Your Less Than Ideal System
Great sound is possible with either B, C or D.
Jazz from 1957 to 1967 was the most definitive.

Are tone controls worth a second look ?
Orpheus10, artist don't record music! Recording engineers record music. Mastering engineers, record producers and even music label executives generally have more say about the final "sound" of an album than the musicians. That being the situation,...

Jazdoc, very well said. When Mr. Marsalis first gained the music world's attention back in 1980 jazz from a commercial perspective was dead. No one was getting label contracts and established artists were still in their funk/fusion stages. Whether ...

There are any number of Charlie Christian compilations. Pick one with his version of "Stardust" and "Swing to the Bop".Oscar Moore was the guitarist in the Nat King Cole Trio. Although he is not that well known, his work is very impressive.Danny G...

Help: My newly upgraded AA Capitole gives no sound
Question: how did you make arrangements to have the player upgraded if 2-way communication with the manufacturer is almost non-existent?
Why monoblocks?
People seem to be presenting their opinions as facts. Not unusual, but somewhat suspect, IMO.
