Commens on the McIntosh MR7083 AM-FM tuner I liked the 7083 sonicly. The 7084 would interface with your 6900 if remote control is important. Its sound is very good and should sell for $700-800. If remote doesn't matter, get the 7083. Good Luck.
Krell --- Are the Newer designs better? I love tubes also. I have a couple of systems and the Krell KSA 250 stayed with me for over 6 years. Prior to that I owned a 300s for a year and a fpb 300 for 6 weeks. I kind of worked backward from their line development, but the 250 is the one I...
Recommendations for int amp with headphone jack I'll second the Portal Panache. Tremendous bang for the buck.
Fun with audio My friend had a Basset hound that had to have a steel rod put in his penis. "Sparky" was a great dog.
Best Integrated amp for under 4k Try to give the Panache, by Portal Audio, a listen.
Mcintosh Pre-amp The volume control is different. The 42's is like the C100 & C200. I like seeing the numerical readout and being able to duplicate any spl. I read you had the 352/42 combo. Here's a fun thing to do. Set the 352 meters to "hold". Change the dis...
What happened with the BASS? MC352/C42/B&WN803 You say you changed the IC from the pre to amp. If you went to balanced, you need to flip the switch on the back of the 352. I had the 42/352 combo. It's very good. I wouldn't be suprised if the Onkyo was a little riper in the bass. It's a little ...
McIntosh and Thiels What taps are you using on the Mac?
McIntosh C2200 Pre-Amp I would get the Mac. After you have lived with it, you will be glad you did.
Upgrade recommendation. Richard Gray or Mcintosh. You will be impressed with the 42.Do you have the 352 plugged directly into the wall?
Crossover needed for subwoofers, or not? Your c100 and 352's are fully balanced. I would run balanced cables between them and rca's to the sub, out of output 1. I have done just that with my 100 and sometimes I just hit the button on the remote to a/b the sound with, without sub. If you r...
McIntosh and Autoformers. . .? I like the autoformer. I've owned some nice Krell and Levinson, but after listening to the Mac I hear a slight ocillation in those, mostly on strings and voices. I never noticed it before and it is slight. I think it is due to the AF, as it presen...
The new Mcintosh MC 402 Regarding the meters: try a mono source like a record or FM station or maybe your pre has a mono button, put your meter switch on hold and turn the volume to different positions and note the meter readings. |
