Biamping w/ a 5 channel amp? Great question. I think in the purist sense, an amp with its own power supply for each section of the crossover would be the ultimate goal, i.e. 4 monoblocks. Quad-amping? Next, 2 stereo amps having 1 power supply and 2 amps for each section of th...
Separation anxiety John, I use a pair of Sunfire Sig subs with mine. I have them hooked up to the "amp 2" outputs of a Mac pre like yours. One push of the remote and they're in, another and they're out. The Sunfires have a x/o that goes as low as 30hz and a variable...
Step-up from Plinius SA-102? I think Duke nailed it, as usual. I have owned Krell before. My favorite was the older KSA 250. I had it for 7 years. The newer ones sound a little sharper to me. Lately I have been listening to the Parasound JC-1's and am very impressed with them...
Separation anxiety The Salons and Utopias are both great. You will prefer one over the other. All anyone can do is guess, so my guess is the Utopias. I would encourage you to give the tempory Maggies some serious listening time, especially after they break in. There...
McIntosh C 352 vs. Bel Canto evo I would be the opposite of Sedona, I've owned the 352 but never heard the Bel Canto. There is no doubt the 352 is up there quality wise, so it will be just a matter of taste. If you like your 2200 you will probably love the 352. I had it with the ...
Is the MR85 Mcintosh Tuner any good.? It's a great tuner. A little while ago I was listening to our PBS station playing some orchestral work in the background. I had my back to my Maggie 3.6's. Every once and a while I would hear a cough right next to me, then farther away. The 3D res...
McIntosh MCD-7009....What do you think? I've had one for years. Sounds great and has been reliable. There is a slot on the bottom of it you should turn 90 degrees with a flathead screwdriver to lock the transport, depending on how you're transporting it.
Moving from Magnepan MGIIIA to 3.6 Congrats on both your purchases. We share similiar tastes. I've had my 3.6's for a little over 4 yrs. and a female golden "puppy" for 7 yrs. now. Those and a perfect wife(not necessarily in that order) and I'm a pretty happy kinda guy. I enjoyed o...
Solar Flares keep coming Slipknot1, I have it on very good authority that when the Pentagon asked Dubya just how he was going to get close enough to snuff out the sun, he said, " We'll do it at night!"
Static Build Up Agaffer, Yes, yes it does. Mine says Zerostat 3 Milty. I think Milty is just who's making it now. I started surfing in '61 in San Diego. My first board was Dewey Weber, then a bunch of Gordon & Smiths. I use to go to Bruce Brown movies when he...
Static Build Up I use the Zerostat antistatic gun. I got it from the Audio Advisor catalog. I blast the platter and the under side of the record being played. It works quite awhile for me. We'll swap surf stories sometime. Good Luck.
Where are your maggies?? When the bass loosens up it will mask some of the brightness. In the meantime, see if you can borrow a big amp or powered sub to try. Make sure the sub can be crossed at 30 to 40hz. Some things you can do now are try them 3.5 to 4 feet from the wa...
Audio cables for older McIntosh equipment? The back of your 2505's won't allow for a very big spade to fit in the barrier strip. My suggestion would be to use the 12 gauge wire from Radio Shack and get their pin connectors to crimp on the amp end of the wire. To Drrdiamond: Did you read Br...
Where do tubes come from? When a wave rolls over a reef, it pitches out at a faster rate forming a hollow cylinder. I may be wrong here but I don't see how they could come from Russia. So the correct answer is "sea".
Magnepan 1.6 vs. ML Aerius i owners opinions.. I owned both. Same room, same everything. I stayed with the Maggie 1.6's. I liked the female voice alot more on them and everthing else a little more than the Aerius i.Keep one thing in mind as you read the results of your poll: Anyone who tells y... |
