Mcintosh-Bad customer service?
Let's make life real simple. If you don't like Mac's policy, buy another brand. Now some of my opinions. Buy the amp new for 8000, you get a warranty. Buy the same amp used for 4-5000, no warranty BUT you just saved thousands. Apply a couple hundr...
Moving from SS to tube system
Question for Ken (Triodeuser). I'm trying out a small single ended amp with a 93db Fostex based speaker. There IS something magic about the combo, especially in the midrange with voices and acoustic stuff. The amp is a SEP not SET. Do you think th...
Any McIntosh C46 users??
Dennis is correct on the missing EQ at 150 Hz. I had the C42 and it is not a fully balanced Pre nor is the C46, but I do like the volume control on both. They are better than the 712 or 15 and I think one of the main reasons they sound better. Goo...
4 or 8 ohm ?
A 6 ohm rating is it's average. We don't know what it's extremes are to come up with that average. It may have some serious dips that could be hard on your amp using the 8 ohm. Do what Aball says and try both. One will likely sound better to you. ...
Maggie's and cats
Play some Cat Stevens thru them. After awhile your cats will accept them as part of the pride.
The new Mcintosh MC 402
Phillyb, That's your opinion, brainwashed as it is, but I respect your right to have it.
HELP - buzzing on Magnepan 3.6R; repair or not?
Is it the Maggie buzzing like you state in the title of your thread, or the Logan which you indicate in the last paragraph?
Any experience on McIntosh Amp with B&W Speakers
You are fortunate you can listen to both before purchasing. The 6900 has autoformers, which is a good thing. During the audition have your dealer try the B&W's on both the 4 ohm and 8 ohm tap, see if you hear a difference. Then go to the 6500....
new speakers 6ohm where do I connect to my MAC
Your 2100 would probably be most happy on the 4 ohm tap. The older Macs are happiest within 80% of their tap, so 6.4 would be the minimum off the 8 ohm. The newer Macs have alot more current capability and can deal with about 20% off of their tap....
MC2150 Mono Mode Problem
Are you trying to run 2 speakers while your're bridging it?
Lovan Sovereign racks, thoughts?
The only issue I had with mine was the triangular posts. The one in in the middle back interfered with some interconnects and power cords on some of my deeper componints.
Preamp For McIntosh MC352
Of the ones you mentioned, the 42 or 2200 would be nice with the 352. If you can swing it, the C100 Dennis mentioned would be special. It's fully balanced in to out like the 352. I own one and can vouch for it. Good luck.
Caliper Signature vs Duetta Signature?
The Duetta is bigger. Don't know about $ for Calipers. I've enjoyed my Sigs for 7 yrs now.
B&W DM6 speakers
I owned them back in the late 70's. Very enjoyable. I'll share a story about them. The manager of the "very" high end store that sold them, and other top speakers at that time, told me the condutor of the San Diego Symphony was coming in to buy so...
Magnapan 3.5R and Sunfire Subwoofer ???
I use 2 Sunfire Sigs with my 3.6's. I chose them because I liked their sound and the controls they give you to help integrate. Their x/o starts at 30hz which helps blend with the Maggies starting to roll off 35hz,+ or -. Their phase control is con...
