Do I really need a pre-amp? If your cdp is good enough and matches your amp, look in to a passive volume control or a passive pre.
Integrated to go with Merlin monitors Yeah...talk to Bobby about the Rogue Tempest.
Best amp for B&W Nautilus 804? Looking for advice. I should have stated in my above post that I have not actually heard tubes with the 804s, I am just putting two & two together, so to speak. I am stepping out on a taboo ledge here, basing these recs on what some people I respect have noted. I...
Best amp for B&W Nautilus 804? Looking for advice. I do not like Krell, especially with B&W's tonal qualities, especially if you are looking for a real, live sound. The CA-300 will do very well, but I would urge you to go balls out and look in to tube preamps and amps. Tubes better match your ...
Any one want a laugh???? I think the consumer report's report of Bose is political. The two share some history. As for sustaining 120db, there are plenty of auto systems that can do it.
CLASSE - Great amps or highly flawed? It seems like those critics use Krell or some other bleach white(not colored) amp as a frame of reference. All I can really say, however, is that with my speakers (Hales), Classe is magic. The first time i heard the Hales/CA-300(store auditon) was...
Rega and VPI tonearm owners - READ THIS Some folks at audioasylum have delved deeply in to discussions about the Heavyweight and/versus OL mods. A trusted fellow 'phile of mine had a similar experience to Sdcampbell when he got the Heavyweight for his nephew's Rega 25. He thought it was...
best interconnects sub 100 Music Metre is sold/auctioned on this site for around your price. I replaced my PBJs and Tributaries Silvers with the M.M. Silvers and was stunned by the difference.
Single disc player vs.multiple Why not keep your sherwood and buy a nice single disc player? You could use the sherwood for parties, or whatever.
Speaker vs. Room Size Look at Merlin TSMs too. Used, they often go for a little less than the popular 805s. I agree, though, that you can not go wrong with the 805s. I find them to be easy on the ears at closer distances.
Whole Hog Room Treatment Thank you
Musical or scientific/technical background? Absrtact7, that sounds like an interesting career. I myself was fortunate to be able to take 'physics of sound & music', 'songwriting'(very difficult course), and some musical appreciation class at college. The funny thing about physics is tha...
Here's How I Make My Equipment Racks Whoa, cool. Thank you, Mr. Lyon. Very nice of you to take the time to post such detailed messages. I'll think twice before tangling with you again :)
Integrateds-Krell or Plinius? I have heard the Krell 300i with B&W N805s. I do like the dryness of B&Ws, but the Krell I think, is too lean sounding to compliment them. Its a sound that'll scrape your paint and make your teeth whiter. Maybe an audition would work for y...
Why do people think I'm nuts involving audio? I keep my audio quiet. Most of family does not even know of its existence. It is visually stunning compared to Best Buy gear, so it has dropped the jaws of friends and cablemen. There's always the 'What's that?', and I hate explaining what phono s... |
