audiophile quality multi -disc CDP s?
I have never heard it, but the Anthem CDP comes to mind. It has a single drawer, so you can only load one cd at a time which is a bit of a pain. I think it retails for around $1600.
What causes listener fatique? cure?
Room treatment is another possible cure.
Deleterious effects of bridging ??
In your first option, if you are wanting the integrated amp to run one speaker, and the amp the other, I think your system is gonna be out of whack. The amp's speaker will get more power than the C370's. You're gonna get better sound with the para...
Tax time
$150 towards a new stand, whoohoo!
If you knew then, what you know now...
Go to many stores, audition lots of stuff. The first time i bought speakers, I only went to one store. I didn't have the speakers for very long. Ignore Stereophile's classification system. As a reference, it does not apply well to real stereo-asse...
Best Movie Soundtrack
'Requiem for a Dream' is a really good recent one. Angelo Badalamenti's 'Twin Peaks' and 'Lost Highway' are great. Trent Reznor produced sndtrks and, 'Trainspotting', and 'Doom Generation', also excellent. 'Showgirls' has some good cuts.
How much does your system retail for?
Whoa, I figured the median to about $10-15k. Mine is $5200, retail, soon to be around $7k with the addition of a turntable. I'm still just a college student though, so i can wear my audio insanity with pride.
Cryogenic Tempering
I would be pretty surprised if cryogenics didn't do anything. I forgot the name, but there is, or at least was, a company that offers this service to the public. They freeze engine blocks, brass instruments, etc. for around $50 depending on the si...
What temperature is your cartridge?????
That's cool, Albert. I thought you used that light just so you could see what you were doing :) I should have known there was some sonic motivation involved
What causes listener fatique? cure?
I think most speakers in that price range will spare you the drilling highs. In my experience the culpret is usually the electronics. I'm sure there are speakers, however that are more forgiving of bright electronics. Magnepan and Ruark come to mi...
what are the best 4 ohms speakers out??
Interesting approach. There's a lot electrostatics with low impedence, but because it varies with the frequency i don't think a nominal 4 ohm will get you much farther than 6. The difference in loudness probably won't compensate for how much you'r...
Will Audio Research D115 drive Hales?
I too have a pair of Rev twos. I'm using an SS amp with 75 in to 8, so the juice delivered is somewhere in the 100 watt range. 100 is enough to play loud, but not with the same smoothness as 200 watts. Hales just play with more ease and with large...
Rogue 88 or AR Classic 60 ?
Just FYI, Rev. twos are 6 ohm. And whatever ya' do, give 'em as much juice as you can.
Techno Anyone?
Straight techno can be boring, but there's a lot of synth- based albums that are excellent: Paul van Dyk's "Seven Ways", Leftfield's "Leftism", Headcase's "mushi mushi", Autechre's untitled album. You can have some luck with remixes. Curve's 'Chin...
Where to shop for music?
When I'm looking for details of a certain album, cdnow.com rarely fails. Take the 'cd' part to heart, few records.
