Movies with... I grinned when B&W was mentioned in 'Traffic'. All the drug runners wanted was good hi-fi. Why can't the DEA understand that? BTW, a McIntosh int. and the Basis 1400 were depicted in Playboy in a return to analog blurb.
Speakers for small listening room I would suggest that you look in to room treatment. I am enjoying a pair of three-way, sealed, floorstanding speakers in a 12x16 room. While the overall amount of bass was not an issue, acoustical treatment went a long way in cleaning up the lower...
Triangle Celius vs PSB Goldi, ParadmRf100 w/Arcam Forget what I said after the third sentence. None of the subsequent matters at all.
Triangle Celius vs PSB Goldi, ParadmRf100 w/Arcam I chunked my 603s a while back for the same reason; the muddy lower midrange. The 805s have a similar sort of sound to them, but with none of the drawbacks of the 600 series. The main differences being smoother, better integrated tweeters, more de...
Most annoying Stereo magazine claim Oh yeah, What Hi-Fi is a circus. A layout to be kept away from the seizure proned. I do not like that Stereophile reviewers (there may be others mags) rarely, if ever, compare similarly priced components in some comprehensive fashion. "Sure, it's ...
Where to get a used Hales Revelation Center Spkr. I saw a pair of Revelation Ones here that may or may not work for you as a center channel. You would be extremely lucky to find an actual Hales center channel. I routinely check for used Hales on the various cites and have never seen one. Good luck
TOTALLY CONFUSED about analog Ken, why don't you go listen to some variety of TTs? It's really not that hard. After you hear a particular TT(s), all this DD/BD and "performance" BS becomes meaningless. If you do not want to modify or spend a lot of time adjusting your TT, then...
Best used amp for around 500 I would just like to mention the Classe 70. It is warm, musical, very reliable & has a good amount of headroom, but I can't say that it is laid back. I've seen them running around for about $400.
What is stopping the ultimate? That's interesting, Albert. Now I like thinking that is why I have switched to records. To me, analog is superior :) (I don't want to start a debate here, though :).-Brian
Most eye-opening upgrade and what you learned Hi Judith. It's good to see another academic who enjoys quality sound with their music. One of the most significant moments in my relatively short time in audio was listening to record playback sonically tower over SACD in a short A/B session. 'B'...
Int amp help Chelillingworth - ok, sorry for the miscommunication. It would have helped if I was more detailed in my first post and more mature in my second. And sorry for the double post, the second was meant to be an edit. Good luck all.
Int amp help Chelillingworth - I have heard the C370. Don't assume I haven't. I definately should have added that the LFD is only 50 watts, though. When I listened to it, the amp was driving a pair medium sized three ways to loud levels, so I assume that it wi...
Int amp help Chelillingworth - I have heard the C370, physically. Don't assume I haven't. I should have added that the LFD is only 50 watts. When I listened to it, the amp was driving a pair medium sized three ways to loud levels, so I assume that it will driv...
Int amp help The LFD Mistral is a potent, smooth sounding int. amp. She's a tad over $1k. $1095 i think, but a large step up from the NAD amps.
Rack effects on aktiv equipment I do not know much about the wiring of the Ninkas, but have you checked to see if "jumpers"? on the speakers are set correctly? I would be suspicious of my dealer's ethics or intelligence if they suggested a new rack to solve your problem. I think... |
