Extended Warrenty???
I read this report concerning Best Buy extended warranties. The report claims that management puts so much pressure to push them, that sometimes salesmen will find an excuse (ex. 'not in stock') not to sell the item if the customer refues the ext....
How important is precise VTA adjustment?
"Perhaps this is why I am being offered this deal in the first place."Regas are a typical arm found on the Michell tables, but they are not as expensive as the SME, et. al. Getting an arm with a nice VTA adjuster is definately a better bet, but it...
Anyone help with Triangle Celius
If you like the Celius more than your Krell, maybe get amplification similar to what was used when you heard the speakers. My bet is that you can hold on to the cable.
Diagnosis: Cartridgecide
Nevermind. The symptoms described in my last post pointed to the culpret; I just found it hard to believe for various reasons. The problem has ended up being the tonearm cable, for sure. Thank you Grandpad, and thanks again Richard for taking time...
Diagnosis: Cartridgecide
Well, I reversed the L/R to the cartridge and the silence remained in the same, right speaker. I then reversed the tonearm wire that connects to the preamp (while the wire to the cart was still reversed), and the silence switched from the right to...
Diagnosis: Cartridgecide
Thank you very much, Richard.
Best "Used" Audiophile speakers for 1000-1500
I agree Sean, but even if you knew the answers to the usual and any other questions, you still will not know enough to confidently suggest anything. Buying speakers unheard based thread recommendations, if that is what the orignal poster is attemp...
Non Audiophiles are funny people
I have a flexy that holds about half my equipment. The bug man was impressed and felt that I should earn some money making them. The funny thing was my nerdy stammering while I tried to compile a simple explanation about why I couldn't. Then there...

I grinned when B&W was mentioned in 'Traffic'. All the drug runners wanted was good hi-fi. Why can't the DEA understand that? BTW, a McIntosh int. and the Basis 1400 were depicted in Playboy in a return to analog blurb.
Speakers for small listening room
I would suggest that you look in to room treatment. I am enjoying a pair of three-way, sealed, floorstanding speakers in a 12x16 room. While the overall amount of bass was not an issue, acoustical treatment went a long way in cleaning up the lower...
Triangle Celius vs PSB Goldi, ParadmRf100 w/Arcam
Forget what I said after the third sentence. None of the subsequent matters at all.
Triangle Celius vs PSB Goldi, ParadmRf100 w/Arcam
I chunked my 603s a while back for the same reason; the muddy lower midrange. The 805s have a similar sort of sound to them, but with none of the drawbacks of the 600 series. The main differences being smoother, better integrated tweeters, more de...
Most annoying Stereo magazine claim
Oh yeah, What Hi-Fi is a circus. A layout to be kept away from the seizure proned. I do not like that Stereophile reviewers (there may be others mags) rarely, if ever, compare similarly priced components in some comprehensive fashion. "Sure, it's ...
Where to get a used Hales Revelation Center Spkr.
I saw a pair of Revelation Ones here that may or may not work for you as a center channel. You would be extremely lucky to find an actual Hales center channel. I routinely check for used Hales on the various cites and have never seen one. Good luck
TOTALLY CONFUSED about analog
Ken, why don't you go listen to some variety of TTs? It's really not that hard. After you hear a particular TT(s), all this DD/BD and "performance" BS becomes meaningless. If you do not want to modify or spend a lot of time adjusting your TT, then...
