Teres still the way to go?
Thanks, Thom. I'm looking forward to seeing (and hearing) the Serac. I think that the Serac (w/ Anvil), tonearm, and recommended cartridge may be an interesting offering to me. We'll have to see if our timelines match up. I do have to say that I d...

Can you give more info about the "upgraded arm" (is this the Vivid-two?). What type of design is it? What carts mate well with it? Given the "turntable package" what carts would be appropriate (Denon 103-R, XYZ Bloom, etc?)My previous analog setup...

Red, you sure know how to torment a guy. Have any more insights?
Teres still the way to go?
Any insight on when the Serac will actually become available? Thom?
Teres still the way to go?
Albert, I'm working on it. I accepted a position with Accenture and haven't been in the Metroplex on a Tuesday night in months.
Teres still the way to go?
I needed cash to pay for my last semester of grad school - that's the only reason I sold off my system.

I didn't see the thread about tables in the $2000 - $3000 range...I could have piggy-backed on that thread.I also didn't know about the upcoming Galibier Serac. I'll be interested to hear how that compares to the "low end" Teres.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't contactly my local dealer becasue 1) I haven't decided if I'll buy new or used (and won't waste a local dealer's time if I don't intend to purchase from a local retailer), and 2) I refuse to purchase from the lo...

I'll ask these again to bounce the thread to the top:1) What's the list price of Ayre balanced interconnects and speaker cables?2) Has anyone had Ayre mod their AX-7e so they could use a pair of Vandersteen 2Wq subs with their integrated?

Thanks for the insights! The reason I started this thread is because I'm looking to build a "simpler" system that helps me focus on what matters - the music. I used to have an all-tube point-to-point wired system, and I *loved* the sound. But being...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
I've gotta come clean...I didn't hold onto my B&W N805s for life. It wasn't because I've changed my mind about them, I simply needed cash. I still think they are a great all-around monitor.
Vandersteen Quatro vs. GMA Calypso
Excellent, Girardian. I'm interested to read about your impressions. Post links to pictures if you can.
Eastern Electric Mini Max vs AE-3 DJH preamps
While I can't speak for the MiniMax, I have read many great things about it.I can speak for the AES AE-3 DJH. It's a great pre-amp. Dead quiet. Tube rolling does make this pre even better (even EH 6SN7s are an improvement over the stock Chinese tu...
What do you think of the DIY Cat 5 speaker cables
I made a set using a modified technique of what is referred to as "Gomers" on AA:http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=cables&n=106567Back when Radio Shack was having a half-price sale on cable (among other things) I purchased enough CAT-5...
Has anyone had good experiences with trading?
I'd sell and buy in two separate transactions. By attempting to trade only, you limit your market to those who meet all of the following condones: 1) want what you have, 2) have what you want, 3) and are willing to make the trade (with or without ...
