Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
I'd be interested who still has their speakers they've claimed to be worthy of a lifetime. And if they've moved on, to what and why? This thread has been around a long time. I'd be surprised if 1/3 of the contributors still have the same speakers....
Progressive Rock
Lazarus28, You are correct in saying that accuracy is not subjective - but it does depend on the definition. I believe it is measurable and real. But who on Audiogon is thinks their system isn't "accurate"? Whether they are right or wrong is anoth...
Progressive Rock
Nrchy,This is where the controversy enters the picture. In theory, no. If a system "accurately" reproduces Pink Floyd, or King Crimson, there not a reason it would not do so for a Mozart piano concerto or a Carl Orf cantata. It all depends on how y...
Best budget $100 - 200 Phono Pre-amp?
Stay away from the Rotel RQ970BX. This was my first phono stage and I found it to be noisy and lacking of detail. I agree with Viridian - find a used Musical Fidelity X-LPS or X-LP2. I had an X-LPS and, for the money, thought it was great.
Speaker distance and tow in?????/
Jadem6,Not necessary. I've accepted the fact that this is something I have to live with for the time being. However, it was a great lesson to learn - placement and room setup is more important (IMHO) than the hardware. Maybe what the ladies tell u...
Speaker distance and tow in?????/
Jadem6,My room is about 18' x 18' with 14' ceilings. My positioning issues are 2 fold: 1) I share this space with my wife and 3 year old son, and 2) I've got this Mitsubishi 48" RP TV that limits my placement (damn TV - it took buying a big screen...
Speaker distance and tow in?????/
Jadem6,You're right on. My real issue is that my room sucks - it's basically a cube - and my placement options are very limited. I've (literally) taken my entire system to a friend's house and it sounds *soooo* much different / better in his liste...
Speaker distance and tow in?????/
Anyone else toe their speakers *out*? Because I sit (much) farther back from my speakers than the distance between my speakers, I toe them out just a bit.
Anyone Tried Audiotop Stylus Cleaner?
Make sure you get the Magic Eraser (which is a microfiber pad that resembles a sponge) and not Mr. Clean the liquid cleaner. There is a big difference (to you and your stylus).
Best Cd Player under $100,000
You wouldn't happen to be trying to compensate for something, would you? It would probably be cheaper (and more satisfying) to just have that fixed. It's ok...many men feel that way (they just don't wanna talk about it). The technology is there, s...
For Magnepans try the "Rooze" comfiguration
Does Rooze rhyme with Bose?
Why not Music Hall TT's
The reason you don't hear them mentioned as much as, say, Rega tables is because:1. The Music Hall tables are not made for tweakers, and 2. This forum is full of tweakers. What many people on this forum can't seem to understand is that not everyone...
Thiel 2.3 vs 2.4
Cine,I know this is *way* off topic, but what hardware combinations did you prefer (and which ones sold best for you)? This has been an interesting thread to follow.
Tube Amps Cary V-12 or Rougue 150 mono's
This comparison was recently brought up over at the Asylum:Cary V12 vs. Rogue M-150Here's what was said:I'm not one for reviews and all the typical audiophile jargon, but I can say that on initial listening I far prefer the Cary V12R. Here are the...
AES / Cary Six Pac - upgrade suggestions
What exactly is your current setup not giving you? What does the rest of your system look like?Being such a vague question, I suspect you'll get a lot of responses, but without context, I don't know how beneficial they will be.BTW, I use the same ...
