Teres still the way to go?
Santa came today!!! Well, it was actually the FedEx delivery truck. He brought one large box with 3 smaller boxes inside - a box for the base, arm board and clamp, a box for the platter and a box for the Verus motor and controller. The ancillary p...
Teres still the way to go?
Well...Teres is changing their product line. The bad news is they aren't making 255s or 265s any more - those models are being replaced by the Teres 260. I found this out when I called with the reluctant intent to go *way* outside my budget and or...
Teres still the way to go?
I'm going to give a response that may be a first in Audiogon history:I'm going to admit that I don't think I'll be able to provide any useful comparative comments. When I receive my table (which should be this Friday), I'll be using a different pla...
Teres still the way to go?
I went with another Teres!!!I guess you could call it a "Teres 245 on steroids"- Cocobolo base- Cocobolo armboard- Cocobolo clamp- Solid acrylic platter- Verus motorI'll be mounting an Origin Live Silver mk III and a Denon 103R. I hope the cocobol...
Teres still the way to go?
Thom,What's going on with the Serac? I see the pricing has increased by about $1k. Any updates?
Replacing Thiel 2.2's, Need Monitor Suggestions
You may want to check out the Green Mountain Audio line. You should be able to swing a pair of Europas or even a pair of Europa Max. If you were able to swing the $1000 + $900, you could find a set of GMA Callistos (like I did). They should arrive...
Two-Year-Olds and Turntables...
I agree with "Uncle Albert". I had exposed tubes just off the floor, and quickly trained my babies to stay away from them."Protecting" the children doesn't really protect them. However, just like everything else in this hobby, your mileage may vary.
Anyone use a hockey puck as a record weight?
Seriously, I'm amazed on how much a weight / clamp can affect the sound of a table. Lee at Cryo-Freeze / Cryo-Parts / Locus Design let me borrow a Locus Design DampClamp for a while to use with my Teres table. The difference over the Teres hardwoo...
What steps forward were actually steps backward?
I like this thread, so I thought I'd bounce it to the top again.
Turntable around 2k
Thanks! I appreciate the insights.
Recommended one make systems?
I asked a similar question several weeks back...specifically around the Ayre line of products. Now, Ayre doesn't make speakers or analog (table, arm, cart) components, but they do offer everything else. May be worth your time to do a search.
Teres still the way to go?
For those following this thread, Thom has posted more info on the Serac on the Galibier site. Can't wait until they ship and reviews start to surface.
Teres still the way to go?
Any updates, Thom? Just curious.
Teres still the way to go?
Thom,You are welcome to post any information in this thread you see fit. I am looking for options to weigh against a Teres 255 and the Serac is something I will consider. I like the idea of buying an analog "system" (components with proven synergy...
Teres still the way to go?
Thanks, Thom. I'm looking forward to seeing (and hearing) the Serac. I think that the Serac (w/ Anvil), tonearm, and recommended cartridge may be an interesting offering to me. We'll have to see if our timelines match up. I do have to say that I d...
