Which Mid Level Turntables Ship Well and Are Foolproof? @peter_s ... Check your PM
Opinion - Every audiophile should build at least 1 pair of speakers Gotta give another shout-out to Danny @ GR Research. While I've never built a set of his designs, he did help me out when I had the crossover for my vintage Pioneer HPM-200s redesigned, and listened to several of his works. He runs a pretty active...
Audioquest Until they run out (and assuming your speakers will support it) I strongly recommend a shotgun bi-wired set of CV-8 cables from Music Direct.
Initial impressions of my new Vandersteen Quatro's in Audi Havana Black I posted the following on another forum (in a conversation about the Quatros). For those who primarily hang out on the 'gon, I'll repost here:Another tip (before you finalize your impressions)...this is particularly relevant given the integrated s...
Initial impressions of my new Vandersteen Quatro's in Audi Havana Black @gdnrbob,Just to build to @ctsooner's response, upgrading from the Treo to the Quatro CT's is more than just a "speaker upgrade". It's really a system upgrade. Sure, it *is* a better speaker, but you're also now 1) bi-amping your speakers, 2) inse...
Teres 255 Turntable belts impossible to find! Hopefully, someone with bunch of left-over mylar and a splicing block can help you out. Us Teres owners need to stick together. I've been using the Verus motor for years, so no belt making supplies in my stash, or I'd offer to help.
Cartridge retip stylus options/Opinions please How would you retip if you "sheared off the cantilever"? Why didn't you send it back to Lyra?
Please Help Me Choose a Speaker Cable I've got a true shotgun bi-wire setup using 2 single wire runs of CV-8. I think this configuration represent a bargain among name-brand cables. I suggest preemptively replacing the batteries in the DBS packs.
For a quick good time, blankets... Candidly, some of my favorite listening is while being covered in a down duvet. Rather than go off the rails, I'll support the premise of the OP.
How difficult to build your own cables? Chris Ven Haus has a "recipe" on his site:https://www.venhaus1.com/diysilverinterconnects.htmlI can't vouch for it other than it exists.
How does high-pass filter requirement affect system decisions? No problem with the stock cables, per-se. I'm sure they successfully supply power. Is there an audible difference between the stock power cabled and the Pangea? Don't know. But the Pangea AC 9 MKII sure LOOK bad-ass, and isn't that what really mat...
How does high-pass filter requirement affect system decisions? @randyhat given the rolloff required for the powered subs in the Quatros, the difference of a few 10's of Watts may not be a significant factor. I'm over in Flower Mound (and I set up my Quatro CTs on my own). Once you know the "tricks" it's prett...
How does high-pass filter requirement affect system decisions? @goheelz, the taper on the IEC end of the Pangea Audio AC 9 MKII power cable allows it to fit easily. The downside to this cable is that it's very heavy and not very flexible.
Anyone still using a Teres table? As @swampwalker mentioned, Doug Deacon is the king of all things Teres belts, but you can always fall back on VHS leader and splicing tape. A VHS splicing block will ensure perfect alignment. In the meantime, cotton thread or dental floss will mak...
Anyone still using a Teres table? @alanpiga, was the belt the issue? |
