Repair Linn turntable vs buying a different one Golly, $7k is a lot to spend on a used LP12. What is wrong with it? You can replace a busted Valhalla board with a new DC motor kit for a few hundred bucks. Unless the Ittok is worn out, keep it and add an AT Art9...
Anyone hear a Croft Integrated Amp? @gochurchgo There is one for sale at the giveaway price of $650 here.
Diffusion or Absorption From other conversations I have had, and testing for myself, I would recommend you remove the foam in your room and replace it if necessary with GIK panels. The steel doors? How about self-adhesive carpet tiles?
Anyone hear a Croft Integrated Amp? @zek4u Good to hear. It really is a great preamp.
Looking for opinions on components for a vintage tube system and 90's solid state Check out my system. I run modified 1957 EICO HF35 monos. Old iron is like an aged violin.
Amp for JBL 4311 monitors Can't go wrong with either although the Croft has tubes in the preamp so you can have fun swapping tubes for different sound. Not sure if you are looking for phono input but if not, make sure not to buy the phono version.
Anyone Know What's Up With Townshend Audio? I will say that their room at the NY Audio Show in 2015? was excruciating. I first heard the Rock in the 80s playing The Wall. I'd never heard it so clean with superb bass. This, on the other hand was searingly bright and colorless.
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable 24"x24"x3" maple block rests on small felt pads on a light open steel frame table spiked to the concrete.
Lehmannaudio Black Cube SE II Both are MM and the standard input 47k should be fine. What are you hearing? Maybe it simply isn't as good.Have a look at this which covers some of this.https://www.analogplanet.com/content/lehmann-audio-black-cube-se-ii-mmmc-phono-preamp-reviewed
Have you recently lost a close audiophile buddy? What has it taught you? Lost a pal 20 years ago. He was an opinionated bastard, yet a patient guiding force when I was new to all this. An opera singer and smoker. No cares about the big house falling down around him as long as he had the music. Big room, tall ceilings. ...
Lehmannaudio Black Cube SE II Ask the questions anyhow...
Thorens Turntables TBH, they look gorgeous but I'd be inclined to look for a Thorens 124, a Lenco 75 or a Garrard 301/401 especially as you are looking at close to $2k. |
