Dc for power supply
I tried using 2 x 12v lead acid 6Ah batteries in an ECC88 tube head amp (MC phono amp). It was quiet but sounded significantly worse with loss of air and dynamics. Reconnecting internal 24Vdc regulated solid state supply brought it back to life (b...
Thoughts on best budget phono pre-amp under $400?
Hnmm. Why adapters? Why not new leads?  The tonearm uses terminated RCA sockets so you only need RCA phono cable.
aluminum platter vs Acrylic not what I thought
I've been having great success with a 10" vinyl record as a platter mat on my 401. It's such a quick, cheap test. You might be surprised.

Crosley should be arrested for selling junk
These were free (and I wasnt expecting much.) But I buy used that have been perfect, others less so. I have bought new that were noisy. I don't like spending $30 on a record.
This guy just doesn't stop...
Ugh. I suppose someone has to listen to it.
Crosley should be arrested for selling junk
@rbtstock  Sigh. I know. I buy some new. Not many. Many new are remastered and compressed. I'd prefer to suck up a little noise and have a wonderfully open, huge sound-staged, natural sounding, minute detailed recording than what happens once the ...
Anyone Ever Figure Out Who Really Designs And Build the Kiseki Cartridges?
"Kiseki, founded by Herman van den Dungen, produce a range of cartridges which are hand crafted in Holland. Kiseki, reintroduced in 2010, are renowned for creating high-end audiophile cartridges."http://www.cymbiosis.com/kiseki-cartridges/
Which attributes do you value most?
Nothing worse than a dull, warm sound, lacking in detail and bogged down by bloated bass. It has to be light, airy, fast, transparent, seamless, rich in timbre and color but not have a color of its own.
