Spendor and Tubes
Not much to add other than I have a second rig with Spendor SP2/2 on the end of rebuilt 1960s EICO HF35 monoblocks with 6L6 tubes. Not too loud but sweet as a nut.
Is Spiking Necesarry?
Kalali, put a 2x2foot concrete paving slab from Home Depot under speakers.
Oswaldsmillaudio, ever heard of it.
I heard their speakers at a show. While fairly pleasant, I didn't feel they were worth the high price.

I got a REL Strata 3 and it works well. I adjust it depending on recordings but for the most part keep it subtle. Definitely adds something to the Quads. I hope to buy a second one.

If you believe in a god, you cannot criticize crystal folk. One belief is farther out than the other.
Cartridge upgrade
Replace the arm with a Jelco 750D and keep the cartridge.

Be careful not to overload your bearing with increased weight of copper mat and/or brass platter.
