Dedicated 20 amp lines/should i use a sub panel
Jim,8/2 with ground. You are correct about the legs. I also tried it on both legs. So instead of 22, 24, where I originally connected it, I had tried it on 23, 24 but it still hummed. In fact, as it’s a basement space, I just ran in a 12/2 on 15A ...
401 birch or slate?
I went with slate. See my Virtual Systems entry for update.

Jim, Some replies below.By side by side, do you mean the breakers are installed directly across from one another? Connected to the same main bus breaker tie. (Both are fed from the same leg, Line.) Or, do you mean one is installed above the other,...
good integrated amps that don't include a phono section or a DAC
Look at the tube amps by Jolida et al. Many have input volume controls and selectors - sort of quasi preamps.

SP10mk2: OMA Graphite plinth vs.Dobbins plinth
Try Jim Campbell (ebay jec965). He built my birch-ply and 3" slate plinths. A lot less expensive than OMA. Check them out in my systems. (No affiliation)

Hum!!
@stereo5 Nope. Dry. As in it has "dried" out over the years from not having the flux flow properly and cracked. Cold is a faulty solder joint from the start by not having the iron hot enough. I said connection instead of joint to help clarify in c...
Hum!!
Sounds like a dry solder connection.

No clue. What's wrong?
Low level buzzing coming from tweeters.
Turn off amp. Disconnect the pre. Short the input to amp. Turn on amp. This is to see if it is coming from inside the amp or if it is being picked up from ourside the amp.
