VPI prime scout VS Music Hall 9.3 VS Technics SL-1200GR VS Rega Planar 6
How the turntable ultimately sounds also depends on the cartridge. A less transparent cartridge on a more transparent deck may make the table sound worse, for your taste, than a transparent one on a less transparent deck.
Real Monster Monoblock Tube Amplifier
It's all about efficiency of operation. The Jadis specs show 350w output for 1000w consumption. A class D is more efficient hence a smaller power supply etc.
What is the fascination?
Inclined to agree with @fsonic above.I have 2 fully restored Garrard 401s with Audiosilente idler wheels. The early twin-spark model is in a slate plinth, the other in a walnut topped birch ply plinth. Both run new Jelco 12" arms (850 and 750 resp...
Real Monster Monoblock Tube Amplifier
Sure is a monster. I have a 90 pound tube (KT88/6550) amp in storage so I have a small idea of what it must be like!

I always select all and copy (not paste) before I hit post. Many times on mobile the process fails and the post is lost. There is a free word processor in gmail and Microsoft 365.By the way, it is "etc."- Et cetera. Not ect.

I have the Psvane Globes. Very expensive. Extremely detailed but quite bright. Only 20 hours on them. Apparently thd brightness cools after 70 hours.

What is the fascination?
Just because you can't tell the difference in sound does not mean others cannot, or that none exists. No idea why you think older tables sound "smooth and warm."
Is the Eico HF 81 really that good?
Nice write-up, Pokee. Not quite an 81 but I have 2 pairs of HF35s. 35watt mono amps. One is a Stu Remmington rebuild with chokes and fixed bias. They are glorious.
B & O turntable TX2 with MMC3 Cartridge Opinions Please
The Lenco in the right plinth is the better table.
Jelco Easy VTA on the Fly
@lewm in fairness, it's something that is useful and an extremely niche, enthusiast product. @gary7  these are cheap knock-offs of the OP's product, which looks and apparently is a more highly engineered device.
Home grown turntable platform/base?
Go as thick as you can on the wood. Not all butcher block is the same. Don't write off granite so easily, especially if you like detail retrieval, air, and tight clean bass. You could sit the granite on felt pads.
What improvements did you hear in going from entry level to high end Audio?
I have found these changes in my humble journey (not in any particular order):1. Speakers disappearing2. Improved colors for different instruments3. Instead of your brain interpreting the feel of what an instrument is made from - brass, wood, pig-...
Manley Chinook with (very) low output MC ZYX?
I don't use MC  on a Chinook but you could start with these questions: What gain setting are you using now? I believe it does from 45dB to 65dB gain. If you are using max gain now, how much volume are you using to get where you need to be etc?
