My weakest link??
You have some fairly good stuff now. Obviously there is room for improvement but just what are you trying to accomplish and how much are you willing to spend. Your room size/shape is your biggest handicap. If I had to live in that room I'd be look...
Buzzing in my speakers w/ new amp
have you addressed the issue of cable routing. I have found with one of my amps that if the cables pass near the transformers I get a buzz. I have to take the cables straight back. You were going to disassemble your system & start from scratch...
High End Audio Equipment, Status Symbol?
Stereo systems, a status symbol? The only thing that anyone comments on when they visit my place is my music collection, hell they don't even know what a tube amp is! In my neck of the wood's if I wanted a status symbol a stereo system is the last...
get vinyl rig or audio aero capital
FWIW, I'd let my choices in music dictate which direction I would follow. I have an older Oracle and I'm considering upgrading to a Nottingham - I like the design - but every time I get out the check book I start looking around to see whats availa...
Tubed CD Player
I have a tube CDP and a tubed DAC and I'd like to help. Specifically what do you want to know about tubed digital stuff. If you want product recommendations what kind of sound do you expect to hear and how much are you willing to pay. Give us a cl...
Where do you draw the line???
Shubertmaniac, I agree that it will certainly sound different, but it could also sound better depending on the definition of better. My American Heritage dictionary includes in its definition "2. More useful, suitable, or desirable". In this insta...
How to clean the exterior of an amp?

Buzzing in my speakers w/ new amp
Do you have a cable for TV coming in? If so try disconnecting it and see what happens.
Where do you draw the line???
Onhy61, That your Harbeth system won't do deep bass, won't go extremely loud and the soundstage/imaging is not SOTA, is precisely why some better healed folks will pay more than the price of your system to get exactly what you say it won't do. The...
I need a female jazz vocalist. No Krall, No Norah
yma Sumac or something very close to that. I think her voice spanned 8 octaves!
Anyone seen the ad for free Mi-Horns?
Marakantz, you got it!!!!
Anyone seen the ad for free Mi-Horns?
T-Bone, get some and put them on the back to focus the back wave - great improvement in resolution and bass. :-)
Anyone seen the ad for free Mi-Horns?
It probably is an ad, but its rather blatant, and then advertising is nothing really new on this site, many ads are far more clever and obscure. Unfortunately they do catch the unwary far too often. To bad we don't have more ad police.
Need some audiogon expertise
Kool 39, You just said something that got my attention - that is, that you have to turn the volume up to make your speakers come alive! I don't know what you were running before you got the VMPS, but one of the common issues with dynamic speakers ...
