speaker hiss with audio aero capitole mkII
Are you saying that you only hear the hiss when you rotate the volume know to maximum? If so, I wouldn't worry at all. There are a lot of tubes that have a low level residual hiss - if you can hear it at normal volumes you would either have tubes ...
speaker hiss with audio aero capitole mkII
Sounds like tube hiss to me, eithew because you need quieter tubes, or you need new tubes, or the noise is inherent in the design. I have the same problem with a CDP, but the hiss is low enuf in level that it doesn't obscure any musical sounds at ...
Getting into analog is tough....
"So what was the reason I wanted to get into analog". To expand your hobby and your music collection. You expand your hobby by learning about how to assemble and maintain a turntable system. You take on a new hobby of chasing down good LP's of mus...
Two different cable pairs from amp into speakers
Some amps don't like some kinds of speaker wire - but if you have already used both of these wires individually w/out a problem I can't see that they should pose a problem for you. The differences in length shouldn't make much difference if its on...
Two different cable pairs from amp into speakers
If you must mix and match cables on the same speakers, and your speakers have two sets of posts which provide for biwire/biamp connect each set of wires separately to the posts which you think they will work best with - be sure to pull out the jum...
Finally Taking The Plunge
Agaffer, I'm noted for being kind, calm, peaceful and affable. Hell, even my dog likes me (most of the time).
Finally Taking The Plunge
Pschyoanimal, Just as I expected - you have no personal experience with the EAR! I admire vicarious expertise. None of this hands on stuff for the "professionals". Fascinating!
Finally Taking The Plunge
Psychicanimal, I did as you suggested and looked thru your archives on analog. You certainly have lots of entries, but only two that I could find related to the EAR pre amp. In one you inquired about the pre amp and in the other you responded to a...
Rachmaninov Piano Conerto 2 - Recommended LP?
Andre Previn & Vladimir Ashkenazy recorded all 4 PC's in the early 70's. If you can find them, enjoy. They are still highly regarded. Byron Janis recorded #2&3 on Mercury Presence, and then there is Earl Wild set with Jasha Horenstein, ano...
Finally Taking The Plunge
Psychicanimal, Talks cheap - why don't you give the requester a good $2000 system instead of taking shots at me? I don't need another system just now so I'm not doing any more homework but I'm sure we can all learn from you!
Finally Taking The Plunge
If I were starting over (w/$2000 +/-) I get a Nottingham Horizon w/Rega 250 ($1000 new), a EAR 834P ($650 used) and a medium mass cartridge of your choice. You'd have to really get fussy to improve on that.
Is vinyl dead ?
Hey, Psychoanimal, call me anything you wish, but at least spell my pseudonym correctly. It's Newbee - not newbie - and FYI I haven't been one for a while. I passed my BS test a long time ago. :-)
Is vinyl dead ?
Sorry you took that personal - you will note that I included "for the most part". I note from your past posts that you have at least had an interest in some music which appeared on CD's. There are some contributors who do not listen to CD's at all...
Is vinyl dead ?
Vader, You will note that the is the analog forum, aka the lunatic fringe, whose member's interests in music are, for the most part, frozen in time. I agree with you in one major respect - if the soft ware (performances) arn't available in LP's wh...
Vinyl wow
Yeh, nothing like a sustained note with vibrato (when its supposed to remain a steady tone). I don't notice this as much on opera records. If it were just the turntable it would be one thing, but is usually gets in the grooves during cutting. The ...
