Dust Removal I'd use a soft brush in conjunction with a vacuum cleaner (small hand held one probably best). Sweep with brush, suck up dispersed dust with vacuum at same time.
This e-mail has been cryogenically treated Funny thing about Cyro (and other tweaks and mod's) is while the molecular structure may have changed, with audio stuff what are the odds that it will make and audible difference. But, interesting enuf, it seems from user comments it always does, ...
This e-mail has been cryogenically treated Dammed if I know. Probably the same way we verify that fuses make a difference and that they are correctly oriented. We listen and hear, or think we hear, the difference. Is there a god? OK, prove that!
Can you have too much speaker presence? FWIW when I have seen the word 'presence' it has been referring to the mid/upper mid range. I agree with Soix. But I would opine that your dealer was telling you these speakers would just be too small in your large (enuf) room, something you could...
What to change a systemic question Scott, Have you fiddled with the crossover controls? Both phase and crossover points? If not, I’d try that before I reached any conclusions. From looking at the manual I’d be interested in having a higher crossover point so more high frequencies p...
Amplifier considerations, PrmaLuna EVO 400 versus ARC Reference 160 S. Is ARC worth it? Sound wise this is strictly a personal choice, take your pick. I like to fiddle with tone and tube changes so of these two I'd probably go for the PL's. When I last bought ARC amps the one question I did not ask was "what happens when you blow out...
Bridged amps vs stereo vs monoblocks. As I understand it when you bridge an amp you will double its output at 8 and 4 ohms, but not 2 ohms. If your speakers dip to 2 ohms, depending on your speakers design (and listening levels?) their output potential (sound) may be compromised. FWIW
Can a system sound too Holographic? ghdprentice, Your distinguishing the difference between 'wall of sound' and holography, is interesting and rarely made. Makes me think about how classical orchestral music presents itself live that clearly distinguishes itself from recorded. With ...
Can a system sound too Holographic? Speakers wired out of phase can be described as 'too holographic' (as heard by novice audiophiles). Out of phase speakers can/will loose a well defined center image.
Seeking Schumann 4th that is listenable Mahler 123, BTW in reading about Dausgaard's Schumann I found a new(er)set by Ticciati. Have you heard this? Sounds interesting.
Seeking Schumann 4th that is listenable Mahler123 +1! But, unfortunately, I think, too often the same conductors who use small forces as Berglund with Sibelius and Harnoncourt with Beethoven do with the COE, also do it with period instruments, etc, Gardiner, something I'm no too attrac...
KEF owners, how are your speakers positioned? Your dimensions sound fine for most speakers at least for the starting point of set up. To oversimplify the effects of toe in, the two extremes of toe in are having the axis pointing at your head - you should get a very focused sound stage mostly ...
KEF owners, how are your speakers positioned? How far to the side walls? Generally speaking, toe in/side wall reflections are not independent of each other regardless of speaker design except for panels and electrostats. The further from the side walls the less toe in......but its all room de...
Need advice Just plug it in. Give it at least 24 hours of play time before you reach any conclusions as to 'sound'.
Best Forum to hear experienced audiophiles exchange thoughts? Mapman +1. An open mind and some good old fashioned critical analysis can result in something meaningful here. But it's work! I've always been fond of the thought for a questioner, with all the answers that a post might get, if you don't already k... |
