If you want to get the best of your transport, try this. @jtcf Buffer with skip protection. Do you have an issue playing a CD on a modern-ish car (many current models don’t have them anymore) while driving? No? Then why would a CD player with minimal vibrations in a home environment be worse? You can ...
Need DAC/Streaming Advice It’s an audio streaming box with multi-room capabilities, if that’s what you mean. You can stream with the app, AirPlay, and Bluetooth aptX HD, and it can use USB drives.
Need DAC/Streaming Advice Bluesound Node 2i? Connect that to your DAC and you should be good.
If you want to get the best of your transport, try this. As with the digital cables you mentioned, this is all BS. Any decent CD player/transport will not be effected by vibrations, they have skip protection for a reason, it will sound pristine even during an earthquake. The fact that it states “enhanc...
Integrated amp question.....around $1000..could use some help! @leemaze None first hand, but besides reviews, I’ve seen user reviews, including from some I’ve recommended it too, all positive. @tomcarr Got any links regarding NAD reliability? I haven’t seen any complaints that are numerous enough for it t...
Speaker Suggestions @grnrbob Just look at their off-axis measurements from Stereophile. Not saying it’s bad, just saying a competing Revel or similar would have more accurate imaging.
Speaker Suggestions @terrancej From what I’ve seen from Vandersteen on Stereophile, they sound pretty good, but imaging isn’t great and have dampened bass. However, no harm in demoing (just make sure it’s in a room size and seating distance that would be similar to ...
"High End" Mini 5.1 / 7.2 Receiver? @akg_ca No HDMI, only 3ch amplification, no room correction or bass management, etc. There is a reason there is no all-in-one mini surround receivers, the components needed simply can’t be made that small.
Integrated amp question.....around $1000..could use some help! Seeing as how a recommendation for Outlaw was removed, I would also recommend them, good review and measurements from Stereophile (JA mentioned the DAC was just ok, but looking at the measurements, I doubt you’d hear any coloring/distortion/noise).
What USB DAC or DDC can replace a Krell SACD Standard ? I have no clue what your Krell sounds like, but the DAC3 or the Chord Qutest will sound identical to the recording. Not quite as transparent, but still excellent, the RME ADI-2 DAC also has EQ settings, so you can tune the sound to your liking.
Sorry redundant Best DAC under 600. I stand by my SMSL recommendation, but would add the March Audio DAC1. Marantz HD-DAC1 Assuming it’s the same DAC as the $1100 Amp1, it’s worse than $100 DACs. Audio-GD NFB-11.28 Seeing as how their $750+shipping NFB-28.28, performs like a $60 ...
Proper DAC Upgrade for my modest system. AKM chips seem to be more "Relaxed" then some of the ESS Chips No, they are very similar in terms of native performance. However, maybe these reviews were in regards to specific products using such chips. As for the Wadia, looks pretty good, the...
Proper DAC Upgrade for my modest system. RME is very solid. I would say room treatment would lead to a sonic upgrade that’s magnitudes better than any other thing you can do with your budget. Quad PA-OneTheir tag line: the closest approach to the original sound And it’s a tube DAC, so...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound @doitwithlife > In both cases THD out reads 0.1% I don't know if thats as low as the unit will report or its the same measured value So yeah, below audibility for music. I don’t think anyone argues one power cable could have better THD, w...
Thoughts about the Magico A3, Revel Salon2/ Studio2 @invictus005 Calm down there. Also, Samsung only recently purchased Harman, the company is still outputting quality gear (such as the F228Be). I also don’t think Harman would like it advertised that their $20,000 flagship doesn’t sound much dif... |
