Class H amps?
My Soundcraftsmen A400 became scary good, after removing the wimpy power cord and hotwiring a 10 ga power cable I built to replace it, and, creating a 2ndary ground. Took this amp to another level. Power cords make a difference. Anyway, having own...
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
It was more specifically the Crown Studio Reference. It was awesome, back them. I have not heard a GAN amp in my system yet. I have tried other class D, none which did anything new I do not have with my current collection of amps. As I enjoy class...
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
Buddy of mine a long time ago owned the TOTL ( at that time ) MBL. He was running them with the TOTL ( at that time ) Jadis gear. Vinyl and cd were used. The system sounded remarkable, as far as tone and spatial properties were concerned. One day,...
Describe the "new HiFi sound"?
@decooney I apologize to you. You stated in your post, " relative to amps and speakers ", and I took it somewhere else. My best ! MrD.
Describe the "new HiFi sound"?
I knew I never should have posted to this ridiculous thread ( sorry to the op ). Commenting on my use of Elton John (for keeping it simple, as everyone should know him ), makes me realize the few ignorant folks here, have no clue as to my point of...
Describe the "new HiFi sound"?
While everyone spends time determining what musical means, look up all of the definitions via the web, and you will see what it truly means. Years ago, I presented a question on this subject on another thread somewhere. Take a favorite, well seaso...
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
For clarity ( no pun intended ) it is the Klipsch model Lascala, Revision AL5 that was just reviewed by Stereophile, but it IS part of the Heritage line. Klipsch does have a model called the Heresy, which also has been around a long time, which ha...
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
I believe it all depends on what the listener wants and is looking for. I have not found an amp that cannot drive my Lascalas, but the quality and characteristics of each amp leaves me to prefer one over the other. I had AR9s, DQ10s, Kappa 9s, Gal...
Best Class D GaNFET Amp Comparison. Who to invite?
@tweak1, I am not sure of the significance of your posting of the M.L video, but I can assure you, that listening 1 meter away from the mouth of Coltrane's horn, and  for hours, as he states this experience when he was 16 years old, surprises me t...
Shout out to Revival Audio Atalante 3 speakers
@nonoise , I am happy for you. It is wonderful when you acquire a component, in this case, speakers, that emotionally connect with you. Are you meaning to say, " emotionally connect with the musicians " ?, as this is what it is all about. Enjoy ! ...
Which amp for my new Volti Razz
I am making a suggestion from experience helping hundreds and hundreds of listeners with their set ups. Get the speakers. Set them up as optimally as you can; the best seating distance and toe in; minimize rear and side wall reflections, etc. List...
Fantasy or reality? Inexpensive solid state preamps that get you 80% there?
The Nuprime ST 10 mentioned above is a power amp, just as an fyi
Fantasy or reality? Inexpensive solid state preamps that get you 80% there?
I do not like autoformer passives, just as an fyi.....they are completely different. But, I understand.
Fantasy or reality? Inexpensive solid state preamps that get you 80% there?
Why not just go passive, like the TOTL Luminous Audio unit, near your budget. Do you really need additional gain ? All of the preamps mentioned have a color, which you have with your tube units. If you want clarity, ime, go passive....and even the...
If there was only ONE album/cd/release you can listen to, over and over.............
