Don’t buy used McCormack DNA 1990s amps Soix, I have no problem with your post, as I understand and am behind you !
Power Cable Suggestions Needed I do not know your other components / room, but damping / mass coupling the components tightens bass dramatically. Of course, room acoustics plays a big part. In other words, many things can tighten bass.
Don’t buy used McCormack DNA 1990s amps After 25 - 30 years, ANY amp can fail, go out of spec, or just not perform as well as new. The pricing people are asking on equipment this old is ridiculous, but as always, buyer beware. HNY. My best, MrD.
Is an autoformer (AVC) always superior to pots and resistors ? The Statement sounds like it does everything well. However, I have eliminated tubes from my system. Enjoy ! My best, MrD.
Klipsch La Scala replacement? @moose89 just as an fyi : The Heresy IV does not use the same midrange and crossover as the Lascala. I am glad their elevation has improved the enjoyment for you. I always preferred Heresys when they are elevated. Enjoy !
Is an autoformer (AVC) always superior to pots and resistors ? @mitch2 I apologize for my misunderstanding. I commented based on your statement " where the only gain ( if any ) comes from the autoformer transformers themselves ". If designed with +6 db gain, yes, but we are talking unity gain, so the source c...
Is an autoformer (AVC) always superior to pots and resistors ? @sns, Mitch is correct, it is not the same. I am speaking unity gain, and my experience is exactly as stated. @mitch2, with a unity gain passive device, the gain is provided by the source, your last statement is unclear to me. sorry.......
What's the oddest thing in your music collection? I am
Is an autoformer (AVC) always superior to pots and resistors ? TVCs, ime, rounds things out and softens transients, but like everything else, it is what your ears like. TVCs are supposed to be better with impedance matching between source and amp.
Klipsch La Scala replacement? Lascalas are 24 inches wide. That is 4 ft of wall space needed for the two of them. What dimension ( s ) are the Lascala to large? Damp the horns, and they will be considerably cleaner. Other speakers ( B & W as an example), do not sound dynam...
If there was only ONE album/cd/release you can listen to, over and over............. Excellent choices by many. Just thought it would be a fun exercise. Enjoy ! MrD.
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing I leave my ss gear on 24 / 7. This caters to the musical aspects of the performers. Improved and consistent rhythm, prat, smoothness, liquid, ease & flow, speed, dynamics........likely a few more characteristics. I listen daily. When away for ...
If there was only ONE album/cd/release you can listen to, over and over............. Hello all, and thank you for participating. I knew this would be hard for all, but it was presented as a deep, profound way for us to unleash our all time " best ", nothing more. I agree with so many titles listed on this thread. ABs at the Fillmo...
My Amp is good but probably the weak point In other words, Massive stands, to get the midrange to ear height, and play with rear wall / side wall distance, and toe in. The Heresy 4 has a port on the rear, very similar to a pro model they produce ( ported, but on the front ). Very different...
My Amp is good but probably the weak point There is not an amp that does everything. Same with Speakers, Dacs, etc. All because of system matching and integration. Synergy, is the word used here. YOU, as a listener, need to know what " specific characteristics " of recorded music, you are ... |
